Planning an Italy Honeymoon or Holiday

Karen Pugh on 17 Jan 2026

Italy needs no introduction and you might already be obsessed like me… the fashion, the history, the architecture, the museums and the FOOD! It’s one of those destinations I come back to again and again, both personally and for clients. I absolutely love planning Italy honeymoons and holidays because no two trips ever look the same. You can go classic, coastal, foodie, cultural, slow-paced or fast-moving! If you’re thinking about an Italy honeymoon or holiday then let's go!

Why Choose Italy?

Italy is one of those rare destinations that delivers on every level.

  • World-famous cities filled with history and art
  • Rolling countryside, vineyards and hilltop towns
  • Dramatic coastlines and glamorous seaside spots
  • Some of the best food and wine in the world
  • Beautiful hotels, from boutique stays to full-on luxury

It’s so incredibly versatile. You can pack a lot in, or slow it right down and experience La Dolce Vita!

Where To Go In Italy

One of the things I love about Italy is how easy it is to combine cities and regions into one trip.

Florence, Pisa & Tuscany

Florence is one of those cities you can wander for hours, just soaking it all in. The architecture, the art, the atmosphere, it’s all there. From climbing the Duomo strolling across Ponte Vecchio and getting lost in side streets and finding little trattorias.

Pisa is an easy add-on and worth seeing once, but for me, Tuscany is where the magic really happens.

Think vineyard views and wine tastings, quiet hilltop towns and long, slow lunches in the sunshine. It’s the perfect contrast to the cities.

Rome

The Eternal city is just brilliant. From seeing the Colosseum and Roman Forum up close to the history of Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basilica.  Wander through piazzas with a gelato in hand and feast on Roman specialities like Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara.

Naples, Sorrento & The Amalfi Coast

Then you’ve got Naples. Gritty, full of energy and home to the best pizza you’ll ever eat (and if you've got a house full of football fans - lots of Maradona related spots.

From Naples, you’re into one of the most beautiful coastal stretches in Europe: Sorrento is beautiful and maybe travellers base themselves here for a week but the winding roads of the Amalfi Coast await. With stunning town like Ravello and Positano, which is every bit as beautiful as it looks.

It’s busy in peak season, but there’s a reason people keep going back.

The Amalfi Lemons, the Bougainvillea-filled narrow streets, the beautiful Southern Italian cuisine. Just heaven!

Other Places to Consider

Even if you’ve done Italy before, there’s always somewhere else to explore and I also book a lot of:

  • Puglia - Increasingly popular, more local in feel. Whitewashed towns like Alberobello and it's Trulli architecture and some of Italy’s most beautiful coastline.
  • Venice, Verona & Lake Garda - A great mix of scenery, lakeside towns and things to do.
  • Milan & Lake Como or Cinque Terre - Elegant, polished and all about lake views, coastal views, beautiful towns, boat trips and classic hotels.

Where To Combine With Italy

There's so much to see and do on an Italy honeymoon or holiday but you can tag almost anywhere else in in Europe but two of my favourites are:

Greece - with so many flight connections you can have history, culture, fashion and food and hop on a flight to one of the Greek Islands for a few days of rest and relaxation. Think Amalfi Coast and Santorini for a classic honeymoon pairing!

Cruise - with many cruises departing from near Rome and Venice and beyond - an Italian city break and an Adriatic or Mediterranean cruise is perfection!

Planning Your Italy Trip

Italy is one of those destinations that looks easy to plan, but the details really matter. Things like:

  • choosing the right locations (and not too many)
  • getting the pacing right between cities and downtime
  • picking hotels in the right areas
  • understanding transport between regions

A well-planned Italy trip feels like a dream. A rushed one can feel like a tick-list. And that’s where I come in. When you book with me, I’ll take care of everything, from flights and hotels to transfers and trains and all the finer details, so your trip feels easy from start to finish.
