Thailand is one of those destinations that really does have it all. You’ve got:

• buzzing cities
• beautiful temples and culture
• incredible food
• lush scenery
• some of the best beaches in the world

It’s also fantastic value (especially when it comes to luxury hotels)!

Bangkok and Beyond

Bangkok is one of those cities people either love or perhaps haven't heard great things about, and I always say go and make up your own mind. It’s busy, chaotic and exciting. I personally love it!

From the Grand Palace and temples like Wat Pho to Tuk-tuk rides through the city, and floating markets and more, there's so much to see and do. You'll find some of the best city hotels in the world and everything from Michelin-star dining to incredible street food.

You can also use Bangkok as a base to explore places like Ayutthaya or Kanchanaburi, which are well worth seeing. They key is to stay in the right spot in the city.

Northern Thailand

The north is a completely different vibe. Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai have beautiful temples, markets, national parks with stunning waterfalls, elephant sanctuaries, cooking schools (always a highlight!).

Travel to the Burmese & Laos border area, known as the Golden Triangle. You can also use this area as jump off to take a boat down the Mekong to Laos one of the most incredible journeys ever (see my blog on Laos) or fly from Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai down to the islands for some R & R.

Elephant Hills

If a safari honeymoon or holiday is on your mind, Elephant Hills in Khao Sok National Park is perfect alternative if you don't want more flights or are short on time - think tented camps, jungle landscapes and ethical elephant experiences.

The Best Thailand Islands

When you think of Thailand, you're probably picturing it's beautiful islands - and they don’t disappoint. Soft sandy beaches, emerald lime stone karst and beautiful water with long, relaxed days, incredible food and massages by the beach.

There are so many islands, but a simple rule of thumb:

• January to August: East coast (Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao)
• December to April: West coast (Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi)
