Orlando Holidays: Fun in Florida

Karen Pugh on 04 Jan 2026

I’m a big kid, I confess! I absolutely love theme parks and water parks. Disneyland California, Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World Florida… yes, I’ve done them all. Universal Islands of Adventure? Yes, that too. Orlando is hard to beat if you love them too! Thinking about your own Orlando holiday? Let's go!

Why Choose Orlando?

Orlando is all about fun and there is so much to do!

You’ve got:

  • Walt Disney World with multiple parks
  • Universal Orlando
  • Water parks, shopping outlets and entertainment
  • Almost year-round sunshine

There’s so much to pack in and with rides and parks opening all the time, there’s always something new to experience. Orlando can be busy, exciting and full-on in the best way.

Days are spent walking miles around the parks, going from ride to ride, grabbing snacks on the go and making the most of every minute. It can be a little fantasyland, especially if you’re into Disney Princesses or Star Wars or any of the big movie franchises.

Where To Stay in Orlando

Where you stay really makes your trip.

International Drive: This is my go-to. I love the access to shops and restaurants along this long stretch, and it’s a great base.

Villa Stays: Perfect for families. More space, your own pool and a bit of downtime away from the parks.

On-site Disney or Universal hotels: Great for a bucket list experience and the convenience of being close to the action.

What To Combine With Orlando

Orlando works really well as part of a bigger trip. You could:

  • add on a Florida beach stay (Miami, Clearwater or the Gulf Coast)
  • turn it into a Florida road trip
  • combine it with a Caribbean cruise
  • add in other US cities like New York en route

Planning Your Orlando Trip

Orlando might look straightforward, but there are quite a few moving parts once you get into it. Things like:

  • where you stay
  • what parks you prioritise
  • the type of tickets you choose
  • how you pace your days
  • what transport suits you best

all make a big difference to how much you enjoy the trip. And that's where I can help! Whether it's a return trip or a once in a lifetime trip family holiday (or even if you're like me and would go without kids!) - I'd be delighted to help you plan your perfect Orlando holiday.
