Las Vegas Holidays and Honeymoons
I’m partial to a good hotel, a bit of fun and finding the best places to eat, so Las Vegas is very much my kind of place! I’ve been a few times, including as part of my own honeymoon, and every visit is completely over the top in the best way. Thinking about a Las Vegas holiday or honeymoon? Let's go!
Why Choose Las Vegas?
Vegas is unapologetically Vegas. You’ve got:
- some of the most over-the-top hotels in the world
- incredible food, from casual to seriously high-end
- shows, nightlife and things to do at all hours
- pool days that turn into full-on parties
Where to Stay (and why it matters)
Where you stay in Vegas really shapes your trip. One of my favourite rooms anywhere is the balcony suite at The Cosmopolitan, overlooking the Bellagio fountains and down the Strip. Getting ready for a night out with that view is half the fun!

What to Do (Beyond the Casinos)
There’s a lot more to Vegas than gambling. You’ve got:
- casinos (tip: newer hotels tend to have better “free” drinks)
- all-you-can-eat buffets
- quirky museums like the Mob Museum and Neon Museum
- rides at the top of the Stratosphere
- shopping and some of the best restaurants in the US
- incredible shows like Cirque de Soleil
You can go as full-on or as chilled as you like!
Get Out of Vegas (It’s Worth It)
If you have the time, getting out of the city is one of the best things you can do.
On my honeymoon we did a Grand Canyon helicopter tour, and it was one of my favourite travel experiences.
We flew over the canyon (even though I hate flying!) and landed at a working ranch in Arizona where we met cowboys, tried panning for gold ate BBQ, heard stories, including one from a cowboy who’d left “his mule and his woman in Virginia, Co Cavan”!
Where to Combine with Las Vegas
Vegas works really well as part of a bigger trip. Some of my favourite combinations:
- a California road trip
- exploring Utah and Arizona’s national parks
- pairing with a Hawaii holiday
- adding a Mexico beach stay or a Caribbean Cruise
