Girls Trip Bergen
Some trips are more than just a change of scenery they’re a chance to reconnect with yourself and someone who’s been part of your story since the very beginning. For the two of us, lifelong friends since childhood, this was our first time travelling together in years. No children to care for, no schedules to juggle just space to breathe, reflect, and rediscover the joy of shared adventure.
Bergen: A City of Charm and Sophistication: We began in Bergen, a city that effortlessly blends heritage with modern elegance. Staying at Hotel Norge, we were welcomed with the kind of hospitality that sets the tone for a truly memorable trip. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the hotel’s design clean lines, natural textures, and panoramic views reflected the surrounding landscape beautifully.
Cornelius Seafood Restaurant: A Taste of the Fjords: One of the most memorable evenings was our visit to Cornelius Seafood Restaurant, located on a small island just outside Bergen. The journey there by boat across the fjord was breathtaking. The light, the water, the stillness. It was as if time paused for us. Cornelius is known for its Meteorological Menu, which changes daily based on the weather and the catch. We were treated to an exquisite seafood tasting, paired with wine and a dessert that was as delicate as it was delicious. The experience was intimate and atmospheric, and it captured the essence of Norway’s coastal charm.
Flam Valley: Zip, Bike & Boat: From Bergen, we travelled to Flam(pronounced Flom like with an om not an am!) for a day of adventure. The zipline and bike ride through the Flam Valley was exhilarating; ZIPLINE for 2km down, cycle (downhill) for 15km on probably the world’s greatest greenway. Then top it all off by jumping on a boat, clear your mind and lose yourself staring at these massive Fjords filled with nature and beauty. Surrounded by waterfalls, wildflowers, and dramatic landscapes, I’m not sure a more perfect day exists.
Dining in Bryggen Tracteursted: One of our fantastic dining experiences was at Bryggen Tracteursted, tucked into the heart of Bergen’s UNESCO-listed wharf, you have to see this place to believe it. Set within centuries-old timber buildings the atmosphere was steeped in history. We were treated to a menu inspired by Hanseatic and local Bergen traditions, with beautifully crafted dishes and a warm, knowledgeable team who made the experience feel both intimate and celebratory with entertaining storytelling throughout each course. Their take on Norwegian tapas smakfulle småtterier was a standout, offering delicate, flavourful bites that showcased the region’s culinary heritage with flair.
Norway’s True Luxury: Its People: What stood out most throughout our journey was the quality of service and the genuine warmth of the people we met. From hotel staff to restaurant teams to adventure guides, every supplier we encountered was passionate, knowledgeable, and deeply proud of what they offer. Norway isn’t just a destination it’s an experience shaped by those who live and breathe
If you’re dreaming of a trip that blends natural beauty, culinary excellence, and emotional reconnection, Norway is a destination that delivers. I’d be delighted to help you plan your own escape whether it’s with a friend, a partner, or simply for yourself.
