My Unforgettable Cruise with Virgin Voyages
As a Travel Counsellor, I’ve had the opportunity to explore many destinations, but my recent one-week cruise through the Mediterranean with Virgin Voyages was an experience like no other. Departing from Barcelona, our ship took us on a journey through some of the most beautiful parts of southern Europe, including the south of France, Italy, Corsica, and an overnight stop in Ibiza. For anyone considering their next adventure, this adult-only cruise is a must-try.
From the moment I stepped aboard, I was impressed by Virgin Voyages’ unique approach to cruising. Unlike traditional cruise lines, there are no buffets in sight. Instead, the ship offers a variety of top-tier, à la carte restaurants where all meals are included, serving fresh, mouth watering cuisine every day. Whether you’re in the mood for a gourmet dining experience or something more casual, the dining options cater to every taste. It was such a pleasure to enjoy every meal knowing that quality and freshness were guaranteed.
The ship itself is sleek and modern, accommodating around 2,700 passengers, small enough to feel intimate yet large enough to offer plenty to do. One of the highlights for me was the luxurious balcony room I stayed in. It was spacious, thoughtfully designed, and included a hammock on the balcony, a perfect spot to soak up the Mediterranean sun and unwind with a good book or simply take in the view.
The amenities on board were just as impressive as the accommodations. Whether you’re into sports, relaxation, or entertainment, Virgin Voyages delivers. There’s a large pool for a refreshing swim, a well-equipped gym, and an array of fitness classes for those looking to stay active. The entertainment is diverse and lively, ensuring there’s never a dull moment onboard. And for those seeking pure relaxation, the spa is an absolute haven. I spent a peaceful afternoon there, and it was one of the most rejuvenating experiences of the trip.
Virgin Voyages truly stands out in its ability to combine fun and relaxation seamlessly, offering something for every type of traveller. And the crew? Simply outstanding. The staff on board were some of the friendliest, most accommodating people I’ve met they made sure every guest felt like a VIP.
Of course, no cruise is complete without exploring the beautiful destinations along the way. Our first stop was in the south of France, in the charming city of Toulon. Strolling through its historic streets and markets was a lovely way to spend the day. Next was Italy, where we had the chance to visit Rome. I was in awe as I explored the city’s iconic landmarks; the Colosseum, Vatican City, and the beauty of Rome’s historic architecture.
One of the most interesting stops was Corsica, where I visited the mausoleum of Napoleon, a fascinating piece of history set in a stunning landscape. And finally, Ibiza; where we had an overnight stay! This stop was a dream for anyone who loves nightlife. With world-famous clubs like Pacha, Amnesia, and Ushuaia, it’s no wonder Ibiza is known as the party capital. But Ibiza also offers so much more, with beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and charming old towns to explore during the day.
For those who prefer organized tours, Virgin Voyages offers a range of fantastic excursions at every stop, so you can make the most of your time on land. Or, like me, you can venture out on your own to explore at your own pace.
Overall, my experience with Virgin Voyages was simply amazing. Their adult-only approach brings a refreshing, more relaxed vibe compared to traditional cruises, and everything on board feels just a little bit different and more tailored to modern travellers. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, this cruise offers the best of everything.
