Cape Town
Cape Town gives the honeymoon an exciting start, with Table Mountain on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. Take the cable car up the mountain for views across the city, spend a day following the coast around the Cape Peninsula, or head to the V&A Waterfront for lunch and an afternoon by the harbour. Save Camps Bay for later in the day, when you can have dinner or drinks overlooking the beach as the sun drops behind the Twelve Apostles mountains.
The Cape Winelands and Garden Route
From Cape Town, head into Franschhoek, a small wine town surrounded by vineyards and mountains. Spend the day tasting at different estates, stop for a long lunch overlooking the vines and use the Wine Tram to move between selected wineries without worrying about the driving.
The journey then continues through Oudtshoorn, in the Klein Karoo, a semi-desert region inland from the coast. Nearby, the Cango Caves take you underground through huge limestone chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites. From there, return to the coast and follow the Garden Route towards Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, where lagoons, beaches, forest walks and coastal viewpoints give you plenty of reasons to stop along the way.
Safari in the Eastern Cape
Three nights on safari bring one of the biggest honeymoon moments of the trip. Head out with a ranger in the early morning and again later in the day, looking for elephants, lions, rhino, buffalo and leopard, along with giraffe, cheetah, hippo and hyena.
Between drives, come back for breakfast, spend time by the lodge or simply watch the landscape around you before heading out again. It is the part of the journey for couples who want something they will remember long after the wedding itself.
Grand Baie, Mauritius
After South Africa, the final week is all about the Indian Ocean. Grand Baie sits on the north coast of Mauritius, with a sheltered lagoon, beaches, restaurants and boat trips around the nearby islands.
At LUX* Grand Baie, your honeymoon Junior Suite gives you plenty of room to settle in for the week. Spend the morning by the lagoon, book a treatment together at the spa, head to the rooftop infinity pool or stay by the beach until lunch. When you feel like heading out, take a catamaran around the north coast, explore Grand Baie for the evening or simply come back for dinner and another night by the water.
