Quito to Baños
The group meets in Quito, Ecuador’s capital high in the Andes, with a shared cooking experience helping everyone get to know one another at the beginning of the tour. From here, the route moves through Cotopaxi’s high-altitude landscape before reaching Baños, a mountain town below Tungurahua volcano.
Baños to the Amazon
Leaving the Andes, the road descends towards the Amazon and the Indigenous community of Shandia. The lodge is run by local residents, giving the group time to cycle through the village, visit farms and see how cacao is grown and made into chocolate. Shared meals and guided activities are balanced with time to settle into the rainforest surroundings.
Quito to Santa Cruz
After returning to Quito, the group flies to the Galápagos and begins on Santa Cruz. The island’s highlands are greener than the coast, with giant tortoises moving through the grasslands and underground passages formed by ancient lava flows. Time here also introduces the conservation work that protects the islands’ wildlife.
Santa Cruz to Isabela
The journey continues by boat to Isabela, the largest island in the Galápagos and one of the least developed. Puerto Villamil sits beside a long beach, with wetlands and volcanic scenery nearby. A free day lets you decide whether to snorkel through lava formations, hike in the Sierra Negra volcanic area or stay closer to town with others from the group.
Isabela to San Cristóbal
Travel east through Floreana, stopping for lunch at a community-run restaurant that supports families living on the island. San Cristóbal is the final stop, with sea lions around the waterfront and time to choose your own plans before the group flies back to mainland Ecuador.
