Arrive into Nairobi before heading out to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of the best places in Kenya to see rhino, along with large numbers of birdlife around the lake. Game drives take place morning and afternoon, with time to properly cover the park and understand how it works. From here the route moves through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, where a boat trip brings you close to hippos and birdlife, followed by a guided walk on Crescent Island among giraffes, zebra and wildebeest. A conservation talk with the Kenya Wildlife Service gives useful context on how wildlife protection works on the ground.

• The Masai Mara is the highlight of the safari. You stay in a tented camp inside the reserve, with multiple game drives across open plains known for lion, elephant, giraffe and large herds of grazing animals. Early morning and late afternoon drives give the best chance of sightings, with time back at camp in between.
• Fly to Zanzibar for six nights at The Mora in a Superior Junior Suite on an all inclusive basis. The beaches are long and white, the water is warm and calm, and the resort covers meals, drinks and activities on site. Alongside time at the resort, you can visit Stone Town for its markets and historic streets, head inland to spice farms, or arrange boat trips, snorkelling and sunset dhow cruises during your stay.
