Highlights

  • Start in Tokyo, moving between neighbourhoods such as Ginza, Shibuya and Shinjuku, with a private full-day tour giving you a strong introduction to the city.
  • Spend two nights in Hakone, where mountain scenery, hot springs and views towards Mount Fuji bring a completely different side of Japan into the journey.
  • Explore Kyoto with a private guide, taking in temples, gardens and traditional streets before keeping time free for Gion, Pontocho and evenings of your own.
  • Continue to Hiroshima for two nights, with a private full-day tour giving you time to understand the city’s history and see more beyond the main memorial sites.
  • Finish in Osaka, where Dotonbori, street food and late-night dining give the trip a livelier final chapter before returning to Tokyo.
  • Travel through five distinct parts of Japan with private sightseeing included throughout, while still keeping free time to explore independently.

Tokyo

Tokyo is the kind of city where one day can take you from huge shopping districts and packed crossings to quieter gardens, small restaurants and neighbourhood streets. Start with the private sightseeing day to get your bearings, then use the rest of the stay for the parts of the city you want more of, whether that is shopping, food, skyline views or simply wandering somewhere completely new after dark.

Hakone

Hakone gives you a welcome change after Tokyo. The appeal here is the setting, with mountain scenery, hot-spring culture and a much calmer feel than the capital. Spend time outdoors, look for views towards Mount Fuji when conditions are clear, and make room for a soak in an onsen before moving on to Kyoto.

Kyoto

Kyoto is where you can slow things down and spend more time with Japan’s older side. Head out early for temple gardens before the streets fill up, wander through traditional districts later in the day and save an evening for Gion or Pontocho, where narrow lanes, restaurants and lantern-lit streets make dinner part of the experience rather than just the end of the day.

Hiroshima

Hiroshima brings a more reflective part of the journey. Spend time around the Peace Memorial Park and museum, then see how much more there is to the city through its riverside streets, local food and everyday neighbourhoods. Two nights means you have room to take it in properly rather than arriving and leaving on the same day.
