From the Amazon to the Caribbean aboard EXPLORA I
16 nights from €11,250 per person
Highlights
- Spend two nights in Manaus, where the grand Teatro Amazonas opera house recalls the city’s 19th-century rubber boom and the vast Rio Negro runs past the edge of the rainforest.
- Sail deeper into the Amazon to Parintins and Alter do Chão, where white-sand river beaches and the clear waters of the Tapajós bring a completely different side to the rainforest.
- Step ashore at Devil’s Island in French Guiana to walk among the remains of the former French penal colony, surrounded today by tropical vegetation and wildlife.
- Reach the Caribbean at Bequia, a small Grenadine island where Princess Margaret Beach and the waterfront at Port Elizabeth make the most of the island’s clear, warm water.
- Continue through Barbados and Saint Lucia, with the chance to see Harrison’s Cave, the Pitons, volcanic landscapes and some of the Caribbean’s best-known beaches.
- Call at Saint Barthélemy and Saint Kitts before sailing into San Juan, where two nights give you time to explore the colourful streets and Spanish fortifications of Old San Juan after leaving the ship.
EXPLORA I
EXPLORA I has a very different feel to a traditional cruise ship, more like a modern private yacht where everything is designed around space, calm and time to actually enjoy being at sea. It never feels busy or crowded, instead it has a quiet, residential atmosphere where you can settle in and move at your own pace.
Your Ocean Suite feels more like a contemporary hotel room at sea than a cabin, with floor-to-ceiling windows that keep the ocean in view throughout the day and a private terrace that becomes your own little outdoor space. The interiors are soft, modern and understated, creating a relaxed environment rather than anything overly formal or showy.
Life on board naturally slows down. You might start the day with a swim in one of the heated pools, spend time reading on a quiet deck, or head to the Ocean Wellness spa for a treatment or a session in the thermal areas. There’s a gentle rhythm to the ship rather than a schedule you need to follow.
Dining is one of the real pleasures, with a choice of nine different experiences so you can eat somewhere new each night or return to a favourite spot. The atmosphere ranges from relaxed, all-day dining to more refined, destination-inspired restaurants, and there’s always the option to dine in your suite if you prefer a quieter evening.
Across the ship you’ll find 12 bars and lounges, each with its own character, whether you want a lively cocktail before dinner or somewhere more peaceful to sit and watch the sea. Premium drinks, including wines, Champagne, spirits, speciality coffees and soft drinks, are all included, along with gratuities and Wi-Fi, so everything feels seamless and taken care of without ever being intrusive.
