Australia Family Adventure: Perth to Brisbane

Perth

Perth gives the family a few days to settle into Australia before the road trip begins. Head down towards the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay, spend time around the city parks or take the short trip to Fremantle for its waterfront, markets and places to eat. It is an easy first stop after the long journey from Dublin, with enough to see without trying to pack too much into the opening days.

Adelaide to Melbourne by campervan

From Adelaide, the trip becomes much more hands-on as you collect your campervan and start driving east. This is where the family gets the freedom to decide when to stop, where to spend longer and when everyone needs a break from the road. Suggested overnight stops take you through Robe, Mount Gambier and the Victorian coast before reaching the Great Ocean Road, with beaches, small towns and short walks helping to break up the driving days.

Sydney

After the campervan journey, Sydney gives you four nights in one place at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour. You can walk around Darling Harbour, head towards Circular Quay for the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, or spend time around the aquarium, zoo and waterfront attractions nearby. Bondi is easy to add when everyone wants a beach day, while the city’s ferries are another simple way to see the harbour without turning the day into a long sightseeing schedule.

Port Douglas

Port Douglas shifts the trip into tropical Queensland, with three nights close to Four Mile Beach and Macrossan Street. Spend a morning by the sea, wander into town for lunch or ice cream, and enjoy somewhere smaller and easier to get around after the bigger cities. It is also the part of the journey where the rainforest and reef come together, giving the family a completely different side of Australia.

Brisbane

Finish with three nights at Emporium Hotel South Bank, right beside one of Brisbane’s easiest areas to enjoy as a family. Walk along the river, spend time in South Bank Parklands or head to Streets Beach for a swim in the middle of the city. Museums, galleries and cafés are also close by, so the final few days can stay flexible before the flight home.
