A Day in Lisbon

Miriam Kelliher on 29 Oct 2025

Flights were booked with TAP Portugal, which gave us the opportunity to stop in Lisbon for the day after our stay in Algarve.

We started our day in charming Alfama, where we wandered winding cobbled streets, gazing at the tiled beautifully tiled buildings that lined them, with Castelo de S. Jorge peering down at us from all angles.

Golden Hour

Next up take a tram ride to Belém, one of Lisbon’s most atmospheric districts. The Jerónimos Monastery and the iconic Torre de Belém will spark your sense of adventure and don’t forget the famous Pastéis de Nata; those creamy, cinnamon-dusted custard tarts are truly unforgettable.

Tiled buildings

As afternoon faded, we found ourselves in Praca da Figueira, at the Baixa Market where we purchased some locally made products and then sat with a snack to watch the city glow in the golden light.

Baixa Market

I would definitely go back to Lisbon to see more.
