Mauritius

WOW what an amazing four days I have just had in Mauritius. We flew via Dubai with Emirates but there are plenty of good options with various airlines.

We stayed in the very beautiful Trou aux Biches one of the eight Beachcomber Resorts on the island. Situated in the North West of the island on the whitest sandy beach. It feels like paradise from the moment you arrive into the beautiful reception area. The resort has six different restaurants so a very wide and varied choice of dining. Four of the restaurants are located within the main area of the resort's huge main pool, whereas two others enjoy a separate location close to the beach and sea.

Myself and my colleague were extremely lucky to be staying in a fabulous Family Suite, with our very own private pool in the crescent overlooked by the master bedroom with its huge bathroom complete with indoor and outdoor showers. Trou aux Biches Beachcomber has Kids Clubs for children aged 3 to 11 and a Teen Club for the older ones.

It is also the perfect romantic resort for honeymoons/anniversaries/weddingmoon’s – as they say themselves at Beachcomber ‘Every moment becomes a lasting memory’ – and I totally agree as the resort is romantically set on a pristine 2km of beautiful beach. And WOW the Sunsets were just amazing each evening!

We enjoyed a fabulous day in the South of the island on a unique speedboat experience where we snorkelled at Tour Moutou, stopped at beautiful waterfalls and had lunch on the beach at Ile aux Cerfs, the rum flowed and the music had us all dancing away until it was time to return to the mainland.

Whilst there we did a site inspection of the Beachcomber Victoria – perfect for families and the Victoria For 2 which is Adults Only so a perfect honeymoon or romantic break destination. I really loved Victoria For 2, it has only 23 Ocean View Rooms and 17 Swim Up Rooms which are styled so well. It has a real ‘boutique hotel’ feel to it – there is even a Seaview from your shower in some rooms. Both these hotels offer All Inclusive. Guests at Victoria cannot use the facilities in Victoria For 2.

Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island was described by Mark Twain as “Mauritius was made first, then heaven” and a truer word was never said. I certainly will be back as would love to see and explore more of this beautiful destination.
