Peru in Depth

Lima

Begin in Lima, where time is spent getting to know the city beyond the airport. Guided walks introduce the Miraflores area, the historic centre and local markets, giving you a clear sense of how the city works and where to spend your free time. There is space to explore independently too, whether that is food spots, coastal walks or simply settling in after the flight.

Paracas and Nazca

Travel south along the coast to Paracas, followed by a boat trip to the wildlife rich Islas Ballestas, home to sea lions and seabirds. Continue through desert landscapes to Nazca, stopping at Huacachina, before viewing the Nazca Lines from the lookout tower. The day finishes with a traditional pachamanca dinner in a local home, adding a strong cultural element to this part of the journey.

Arequipa

Arrive in Arequipa, known for its white stone buildings and setting beneath El Misti volcano. A guided walk covers the main square, cathedral and Santa Catalina Monastery, while free time allows for cafés, markets or museums. It is a comfortable stop that balances sightseeing with time to relax.

Lake Titicaca and Puno

From Arequipa, travel across the Andean plateau to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca. A full day is spent on the lake, visiting the floating Uros Islands and Taquile Island, where traditional textile making is still part of daily life. This section offers a very different side of Peru, shaped by altitude, landscape and local customs.

Cusco

Cusco acts as your base for exploring former Inca territory. Guided walks introduce the city’s layout, markets and main squares, while free days give you flexibility to explore museums, ruins or simply spend time in cafés around Plaza de Armas. The included Boleto Turistico provides access to key sites around the city.

A stop in Urubamba includes coffee and cake at a social enterprise café, before continuing deeper into the valley.

Machu Picchu

The approach to Machu Picchu is made by train through the Urubamba Valley, with the landscape becoming greener and more enclosed as the route climbs.
