Why Japan works for families, couples and solo travellers
Japan is one of those rare destinations that really does have something for everyone.
High tech cities, peaceful temples, beautiful landscapes and incredible food all come together in a way that can be tailored to very different types of trip.
For families
Japan is a brilliant “big” holiday. Tokyo’s neon, interactive museums and arcades are an instant hit with kids and teens, and theme parks like Tokyo Disney and Universal Studios Japan add serious wow factor. The bonus for parents: bullet trains, clean cities and great facilities make it feel surprisingly easy to get around.
For couples
Japan feels wonderfully romantic. You can combine rooftop bars and late‑night city walks with slower days in Kyoto or the countryside: think traditional inns, hot springs, bamboo forests and riverside strolls. Add in unforgettable food experiences, from intimate sushi counters to special occasion tasting menus, and it becomes a very memorable escape.
For solo travellers
Japan is ideal if you want somewhere safe, well organised and full of variety. Eating alone is completely normal, the rail network makes it simple to move between cities and quieter regions, and you are free to set your own pace and follow your own interests, whether that is food, art, nature or all three.
