A quick insight into my 6 night trip to the Seychelles.

A Dream Realised in Seychelles: My Luxury Escape at Constance Ephelia

Some travel stories begin with meticulous planning; others are written by serendipity. My recent trip to the Seychelles—long nestled at the top of my wanderlust list—came courtesy of a lucky draw, and what a magical chapter it became!

Setting Off: Anticipation & Ease

With my sister by my side (her 40th birthday still twinkling in our memories), we set our course from Dublin to Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles, via a seamless Qatar Airlines journey with a quick layover in Doha. The simplicity continued on arrival: pre-completing the Seychelles Travel Authorisation online (€10) made airport formalities and border control refreshingly swift, and soon we were cruising through lush landscapes on the way to our sanctuary, Constance Ephelia.

Arrival: First Impressions of Paradise

Constance Ephelia isn’t just a hotel: it’s an expansive tropical haven, flanked by beautiful coastlines on both north and south and teeming with vibrant plant life. The 35-minute transfer from the airport gave us a taste of the island’s wild beauty (the winding roads aren’t for the faint-hearted, but certainly built anticipation!).

Check-in felt effortless, thanks to the dedicated Constance Ephelia app, enabling us to arrange restaurant bookings and excursions at our leisure. For those less tech-inclined, helpful concierge desks are on hand to take care of every detail.

Accommodation: Suites to Suit Every Traveller

We settled into our elegant Junior Suite on the south side, a tranquil retreat overlooking the ‘Quiet Pool’, with glimpses of the turquoise sea through the pines—a melody of birdsong and gentle waves setting the scene for pure relaxation. The resort is thoughtfully split between north and south, connected via shuttle buggies. With six pools, families, couples, and solo travellers alike can find their own perfect corner.

Days in Paradise

Our adventure opened with restful hours acclimatising to the gentle island climate, followed by our first taste of Seychelles’ cuisine at Corrosol, the main buffet restaurant, where themed evenings keep the culinary experience fresh and fabulous each night.

An early highlight was a private excursion with a Seychellois guide who whisked us—windows down—through landscapes teeming with the ingredients of paradise: coconut palms, starfruit, jackfruit, vanilla, papaya, and fragrant cinnamon clinging to the roadsides. The air was perfumed and the colours extraordinary, a true Garden of Eden as the Seychelles is often dubbed. We tasted tart Water Apples, wandered the bustling capital of Victoria, gazed at the historic Clock Tower, and marvelled at the mighty Coco de Mer and gentle Giant Tortoises in the lush Botanical Gardens.Seychelles Giant TortoiseWith a Coco de Mer seed at the Botancial Gardens in Victoria

Dining Delights

Half Board at Constance Ephelia is a true gourmet passport. We dined under starlit skies at Seselwa—a beachfront gem serving up classic Creole dishes, where even the local sand crabs joined the festivities! Mediterranean-inspired Helios and the Asian-inflected Adam & Eve rounded out our culinary circuit, all offering attentive table service and a sense of relaxed luxury.

Activities: Adventure and Wellness in Equal Measure

While days could be easily filled by the pools or at the divine spa, we couldn’t resist signing up for a guided snorkelling trip (£60 per person). Skimming the sparkling aqua waters by speedboat to a National Marine Park, we spent an hour mesmerised by a rainbow of marine life. (Note for fair-skinned visitors: even the best suncream can be outmatched by the Seychelles sun!) Complimentary water sports and fitness classes ensure there’s always something new to discover.

Evenings & Atmosphere

Evenings at Constance Ephelia are serene. There’s gentle entertainment at Zee Bar, but most guests seem drawn back to their private suites for a calm conclusion to the day—perhaps a stroll beneath the stars or a nightcap with loved ones.

Who Is Constance Ephelia For?

Quite simply: everyone. Families are elegantly catered for with spacious villas and a vibrant kids club. Couples and honeymooners will fall in love with the luxurious suites and romantic vistas. Whether you crave culinary adventures, restorative spa sessions, or the simple joy of barefoot beach strolls, this is a resort that makes luxury accessible and inviting for all.

Island-Hopping Paradise: Praslin & La Digue in the Seychelles

Island escapes don’t come dreamier than the Seychelles – and our journey from Mahé’s Constance Ephelia to the wild beauty of Praslin and La Digue was nothing short of magical.

Seas the Day: From Mahé to Praslin
Our adventure continued as we boarded the Cat Cocos ferry, gliding across sparkling waters for just over an hour. Arrivals feel seamless here: we were whisked from ferry to the Coco de Mer & Black Parrot Suites, a boutique oceanfront retreat radiating warm hospitality. With only 50 rooms and a setting right on the water, this hideaway instantly felt like home. Our Superior room, complete with ice-cold air con, felt like a little slice of paradise after those tropical temps!

Natural Wonders & Iconic Beaches
That afternoon, the Valley de Mai National Park awaited. Our guide led us into this UNESCO-listed sanctuary, home to prehistoric palms and the mysterious Coco de Mer – plus, the elusive Black Parrot, whose calls echoed from the canopy above. Then, it was off to Anse Lazio, often hailed as one of the world's best beaches, where the sands are powder-soft and the water impossibly blue.

La Digue: Cycling Bliss & Secret Shores
The next day brought us on a short 15 minute ferry ride to La Digue, an island where time seems to slow... and bikes rule the road. On the advice of a local legend known as ‘Mr Quick Quick’, we swapped pedal power for an electric bike – the ultimate travel hack when it’s 30°C! First stop: L’Union Estate for access to legendary Anse Source d’Argent beachFormidable rock formations at Anse Source d'Argent beach on La DigueAnse Lazio beach on Praslin Island. Sitting among colossal granite boulders and shimmering turquoise shallows, it’s no wonder this beach tops countless wishlists.

But La Digue has its secrets: we cycled north to wild Anse Patatas, sharing the path with giant tortoises, and lunched in the shade before exploring the dramatic sands of Grand Anse – a vast, movie-set beach where it felt like we had the world to ourselves.

Each beach seemed even more beautiful than the last, and every quiet cove became a cherished memory.

A Fond Farewell
After two glorious nights on Praslin and a whirlwind of island discovery, it was time to set sail for Mahé and thoughts of home. What lingers most? The extraordinary landscapes, gentle rhythm of island life, and genuinely welcoming service at every hotel.

Seychelles Travel Tip:
We travelled during the “wet season,” yet the sun barely left us – and in fact, the locals were hoping for more rain during our stay!
