NCL Pearl Istanbul to Trieste

In August I flew to Istanbul with KLM - easy flight out of Amsterdam.  Travel tip - buy your duty free on arrival in Istanbul as 30% cheaper and you shop while waiting for bags to arrive on carousel. I spent two nights at the Novotel Bosphorus - location is perfect, right by the cruise terminal ( a 3 minute walk) and super area of shops, restaurants and a short walk to the ferry terminal if you want to cross over to Asia to Uskudar Iskekesi. I  popped over to watch sunset over Istanbul and do great people watching while sipping a mint tea and having a kebab.  If you’re searching for a cruise that combines rich culture, stunning landscapes & some relaxation, sailing from Istanbul to Venice is a dream come true. • Kotor – A fjord-like bay surrounded by mountains. Be up at bow for arrival as super photo ops and so beautiful and peaceful.  Head ashore early to climb the fortress before it gets too hot.
• Dubrovnik – The Pearl of the Adriatic, need I say more? As soon as you enter, turn right and lose yourself and the crowds in the small side streets.  Torrential thunderstorms did put a damper on our port  stop ! 
• Split – Roman history meets coastal beauty. The hop on hop off tour that starts at the port also includes a walking tour of the old Roman city, amazing - then wander back to ship along the fishing port.
• Koper & Trieste – Hidden gems of the Adriatic. Trieste is worth spending a night after the cruise – such an elegant and human size city.
