Douro River Cruise with Riviera

Porto

Arrive in Porto and transfer to the MS Douro Splendour, your home for the next 7 nights. Settle into your elegant stateroom and raise a glass on deck as your Portuguese river adventure begins.

Sail into the heart of the Douro Valley. Enjoy included excursions such as a visit to the Mateus Palace and its beautifully manicured gardens. Indulge in regional wines and slow, sun-drenched afternoons onboard

Peso da Régua & Mateus Palace

After a leisurely breakfast, your cruise begins in earnest as the ship glides through the Douro Valley, a region famed for its cinematic landscapes and rich viticultural heritage.

This afternoon, step ashore at Peso da Régua for a visit to the 18th-century Mateus Palace, a baroque masterpiece set amidst pristine French gardens. Later, indulge in an exclusive dinner and wine tasting at Quinta da Pacheca, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine estates in the region. Return to your ship for an overnight mooring in Régua.

Pinhão & Quintas

Life slows down as the ship winds its way to Pinhão, a postcard-perfect town at the heart of port wine country. Spend the morning soaking in the views or treating yourself to the spa onboard.

In the afternoon, visit a traditional quinta to learn about the art of wine-making, from vine to bottle, before enjoying a tasting of their finest vintages.

Castelo Rodrigo

As the ship sails deeper into the Douro’s dramatic gorge, enjoy the tranquillity of this remote stretch with a morning on deck or by the pool.

In the afternoon, visit Castelo Rodrigo, a medieval village perched high above the hills. Wander its cobbled streets, take in panoramic views, and connect with centuries of history in this peaceful hideaway.

Later, enjoy the ceremonial opening of a vintage port, a fitting way to end a magical day.

Lamego & Chef’s Dinner

Begin the day with a visit to the charming town of Lamego, home to Portugal’s famed sparkling wine and the beautiful Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies. Marvel at the baroque staircase and stunning azulejos (ceramic tiles) that adorn this sacred site.

Back onboard, the chef and his team prepare an exquisite Chef’s Dinner featuring regional specialities, followed by an energetic folk performance celebrating Portuguese culture.

Departure from Porto

Savour a relaxed morning onboard before the ship cruises back into Porto. After lunch, enjoy a guided city tour through the Ribeira district, Porto’s UNESCO-listed old town, and pay a visit to one of its historic port wine cellars for a tasting.

Enjoy one last breakfast on board before your transfer to the airport and flight back to home.
