Day 1 – 2: Discovering Lima’s Coastal Charm
Welcome to the vibrant city of Lima! Your Peruvian adventure begins in the coastal capital where you can watch surfers conquer the waves as you make your way to your hotel. Immerse yourself in the trendy district of Miraflores, known for its chic shops, lively bars, and thriving culinary scene.
Rent a bike and cycle through the colourful neighbourhoods of Miraflores and Barranco. The 8-mile ride will take you past historical landmarks like the enchanting Puente de los Suspiros. In the evening, stroll through Lima's bustling streets and indulge in delicious Peruvian tapas and local beer.
Day 3: The Land of the Incas – Cusco
Leave Lima behind and fly to the breathtaking city of Cusco, nestled in the Andes. This ancient city is a treasure trove of history, from impressive Inca stonework to stunning Spanish colonial architecture. Take it slow and marvel at the beautiful cathedrals as you acclimatise to the higher altitude. Cusco’s charm and historical significance will captivate you at every turn.
Day 4 – 5: The Sacred Valley: Pisaq Ruins and Cultural Traditions
Journey to the Sacred Valley, staying in the stunning Casa Andina Premium Sacred Valley and be awed by the majestic mountain landscapes and fertile farmlands. You'll see the massive ruins of Pisaq perched up above the town as you approach and you'll get to spend time with a local community on the way up to the site. Lunch is an experience in itself at a community-run restaurant, followed by the opportunity to take a guided tour of the Pisaq archaeological site, an ancient Incan citadel surrounded by stunning scenery.
On your final morning in the Sacred Valley, choose between two thrilling activities. You can go on an acclimatisation hike through mountainous trails to the serene Perilnilloq waterfall or an adventurous climb on the via ferrata network, offering spectacular views and a scenic lunch spot. In the evening, have a fabulous culinary experience as you feast on a traditional pachamanca meal, consisting of various types of meat, potatoes and vegetables cooked for hours in the ground under hot stones.
Day 6 – 9: Trekking the Legendary Inca Trail
Embark on the world-renowned Inca Trail, one of the most well-known treks in the world, with good reason. Hiking past ancient ruins through incredible mountainous scenery to finally arrive to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
