Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, is a picturesque paradise that offers breathtaking views and a wide array of activities for all types of travellers. In June, my family and I embarked on a week-long adventure to this enchanting destination, staying at the delightful Del Garda Village Campsite. The experience was nothing short of magical, filled with laughter, relaxation, and exploration. Join me as I take you through our unforgettable journey at Lake Garda.

Day 1: Arrival at Del Garda Village We flew with Ryanair from Cork to Bergamo and were transferred from there. As we arrived at Del Garda Village, we were immediately captivated by its serene ambiance and charming surroundings. Nestled amidst lush greenery and located just a stone's throw away from the glistening waters of Lake Garda, the village felt like a perfect retreat. Our comfortable accommodation offered ample space for the entire family, complete with modern amenities and a balcony overlooking the scenic landscape.

Day 2: Discovering Sirmione Our first full day at Lake Garda began with a visit to the charming town of Sirmione. Known for its medieval castle and thermal springs, Sirmione was a delight to explore. We wandered through narrow cobblestone streets, marvelling at historic architecture and quaint shops. The Scaliger Castle offered breathtaking panoramic views of the lake, and the kids were thrilled to explore its ancient walls.

Day 3: A Day on the Lake With so much water around, it was only natural that we spent a day on the lake itself. We rented a boat and cruised along the calm waters of Lake Garda, taking in the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains and picturesque villages. We anchored at several spots for swimming and even had a picnic on board. The kids were ecstatic, and it was a perfect opportunity for the family to bond and create lasting memories.

Day 4: Adventure at Gardaland A trip to Lake Garda with kids wouldn't be complete without a visit to Gardaland, Italy's largest amusement park. Located just a short drive from Del Garda Village, the park offered a plethora of rides and attractions for all ages. From thrilling roller coasters to family-friendly rides, we spent the entire day hopping from one adventure to another. Gardaland definitely brought out the child in all of us!

Day 5: Exploring Malcesine and Monte Baldo On this day, we headed to the charming town of Malcesine, nestled at the foot of Monte Baldo. We took a cable car ride to the top of the mountain, where we were rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Garda and the surrounding region. The hiking trails offered a chance to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the area, and we were lucky enough to spot some alpine wildlife.

Day 6: Relaxation and Water Fun After a few days of exploration, we decided to dedicate a day to relaxation and water fun. Del Garda Village's pools and water slides provided endless entertainment for the kids, and we enjoyed some leisurely time by the poolside, soaking up the warm Italian sun. It was the perfect opportunity to unwind and reflect on the wonderful experiences we had throughout the week.

Day 7: Farewell to Lake Garda As our week at Lake Garda came to an end, we bid farewell to this idyllic destination with a mix of happiness for the memories made and sadness to leave such a beautiful place. Our family vacation had been a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and quality time together.

Lake Garda is undoubtedly a destination that caters to the desires of all travellers, especially for families seeking a memorable vacation. Our week at Del Garda Village allowed us to immerse ourselves in the region's natural beauty, historical charm, and family-friendly activities. It was a journey that strengthened our family bonds and left us with a deep appreciation for the wonders of Lake Garda. We will forever cherish the memories of our time spent in this Italian paradise.
