Touchdown and Warm Welcomes

We kicked off with a night at the Oriental Jade, a beautiful modern haven set above the hustle and bustle of central Hanoi. The calming décor and views across Hoan Kiem Lake set the perfect tone for relaxation.
Four Nights: Sofitel Legend Metropole
For the main leg of our stay, we checked in at the storied Sofitel Legend Metropole. With its French colonial charm, lush courtyards, and exceptional hospitality, every minute here felt truly golden.
Spa Bliss in the Old Quarter – Incredible Value
In the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, I took a little time for the best kind of “me time”: a dreamy foot massage, a radiant facial, and a nourishing hair treatment, all at a price that made luxury feel wonderfully accessible. Vietnam really does let you indulge without the guilt!
Shopping in Hanoi – Fabulous Finds, Fantastic Value
Hanoi’s shopping scene was a real highlight. I found incredible value on quality goods ranging from stylish sportswear and sought-after trainers to beautifully crafted leather bags. The city’s markets and boutiques brim with both international brands and unique local products, making it easy (and surprisingly affordable) to refresh your wardrobe or pick up an iconic new bag.
Food & Fun – Luxury for Less
Hanoi is a dream for foodies.
A Rainy Evening Street Food Tour:
One rainy evening, we set out on foot to discover the city’s culinary wonders. Squeezed onto tiny stools with rain drumming on nearby tarps, we savoured steaming pho, spicy bun cha, and crisp pancakes — with every bite enhanced by the lively, authentic atmosphere. Vietnam delivers dining that excels in both flavour and value.
Vespa Tour: Morning Magic and Train Street Delight
Our morning Vespa tour was a standout, taking advantage of bright, clear weather as we zipped through Hanoi’s waking streets. From the scent of early-morning markets to the energy of local cafés, every moment was vibrant and full of life.
Unmissable Stop: Train Street
One of the most memorable stops was Hanoi’s world-famous Train Street, where the train roars past just inches from the lively cafés and colourful homes. Sitting with a coffee, watching the railway’s choreography, and soaking in the unique street life made for an unforgettable local encounter.
Ninh Binh: Breathtaking Scenery, Misty Moments
A day trip to Ninh Binh offered dramatic limestone landscapes and tranquil rivers, all shrouded in mist. Even through a gentle drizzle, the scenery was enchanting, providing the perfect backdrop for adventure and exploration.
Weather: Joy in the Rain
Vietnam gave us plenty of rain, but it only added to our experience , creating opportunities for laughter, impromptu adventures, and stories to bring home. We embraced every drop!
Reflections
Vietnam exceeded every expectation: iconic hotels, luxe spa time, unbeatable shopping for sportswear, trainers, and leather goods, famously delicious food, cultural icons like Train Street, and incredible value at every turn. Best of all, the company of wonderful Travel Counsellor colleagues turned every shared moment into gold.
