MSC World Europa

In July 2023 I sailed on MSC World Europa to celebrate my 50th birthday. We went with our two teens who were 14 and 16 years at the time. The ship was new and had only launched a few months beforehand, so everything was so impressive. We booked a balcony family cabin and had the Fantastica package with the drinks and we added the Wi-Fi package which is a must for the teens.

Our cabin was a balcony cabin which included a double bed and bunk beds for the kids. The cabin was very compact but with two teens I definitely wouldn’t recommend. It would be much better to have 2 cabins or interconnecting if possible. Thank god we had the balcony as it was nice to sit out there in the morning or evening watching the world go by and having a little bit of space. I loved sitting out in the balcony each morning when we were coming into port.

We ate in the buffet restaurant most of the time. Breakfast was very busy as it was peak season July time. In the evening, we did try the main restaurant a few times but did find it very slow and the teens much preferred the buffet. The quality and choice of food in the buffet restaurant was excellent for breakfast, lunch and dinner and always fresh and plentiful. A couple of evenings Gearoid and I sampled the speciality restaurants and the girls were happy to go off to the buffet restaurant themselves. My favourite was the Butchers cut. It was my birthday that day and they made such a fuss and had musicians and all over at our table. We also loved the Chefs Garden and Asian restaurant.

The pools were very busy especially the main pool area where all the entertainment went on. We did like the botanic garden pool area which was a lot cooler and covered as it was extremely hot. It had hot tubs, a retractable roof and an upstairs bar area. In the afternoon there was always pizza and burgers served at the pool area.

The girls tried the Venom drop slide there was always huge queues, but they did find it too slow. The water park was fun but more for younger kids.

The ship is huge, but it was very easy to find your way around and I would definitely recommend having MSC for ME App on your phone as it was so beneficial on board. We went to the shows a couple of nights where were amazing and I would recommend booking these on the MSC for ME.

We used to love sitting outside at the bar at the back of the ship when we were leaving port and sailing away there was always great entertainment, and it was just lovely looking out to see sailing away. I loved the Gin bar and only found that the second last night. The Champagne bar was gorgeous too. We went to the Lani bar at the back of the ship most evenings. There were such great choices for entertainment.

The staff were amazing so helpful and friendly and always ready to clean your cabin or restock with fresh towels water etc. They were from all nationalities. We did get off every day and just do our own things at the various ports of call. My favourite was Valetta in Malta what a beautiful old city. Definitely want to revisit there again. We had the best time on MSC World Europa there was definitely something for everyone and we will definitely go back cruising again.
