Celebrity Eclipse Ship Visit

Joanne O'Brien on 22 July 2025
Some facts to start with: Passenger Capacity: 2852 Year: Launched 2009, refurbished in 2019 Home Port: Amsterdam Size: 1041 ft / 121878 tonnes Class: Solstice Class (Other ships in Solstice Class are Solstice, Equinox, Silhouette and Reflection)

What those facts mean to me and you: The capacity is low for a ship this size, often ships of this size will have a passenger capacity of 4000 or more. This means this is a really spacious ship and does not feel crowded at all. Having been recently refurbished it looked to be in great condition, everywhere we went on the ship was just BEAUTIFUL. With the home port being Amsterdam, it means we have great access from Cork. The Solstice Class ships are casually elegant with an emphasis on innovation, pampering and fun.

The Retreat: The Retreat is a service level available onboard Celebrity Edge Class and refurbished ships. This service level includes: your own butler, Destination Experience Specialist to assist with your excursions, a Shore excursion departure lounge just for suite guests, premium amenities, as well as access to The Retreat Sundeck, The Luminae Restaurant, and the Retreat Lounge which are exclusive areas for Retreat Guests only. This adds a bit of exclusivity to your cruise.

Cabins: We got to see an infinite veranda cabin, it was so lovely, it was bright and airy, there was plenty of space in the bathroom and a lovely balcony too. I definitely would recommend this cabin type. What I really liked as well was the space at the door so you're not squeezing past anyone.

Public Areas: The public areas were really beautiful and modern. My favourite public area was probably the top deck, which had grass effect, so you really felt like you were outside. The ship has been designed to allow passengers to feel outside as much as possible. The pool areas were lovely, and there was an indoor pool for the cooler voyages too!

Food and Drink: There is no shortage of food and drink venues onboard the Celebrity Eclipse! For dining, there are exclusive restaurants - Blu for Aqua Class guests and Luminae for Retreat Class Guests. If you haven't upgraded to either of these, you have loads of speciality dining restaurants - Le Petit Chef, which I ADORE (see my videos), as well as Italian, French and Japanese cuisine. These will have a supplementary cost. If you want to stick with your included dining, the buffet looked great, and you have the main dining room. We had a taster menu at the main dining room while onboard and the food was divine! Not only that, the service was phenomenal and the main dining room was so elegant! For drinks, again loads of venues from the blissful Sky Observation Lounge to the very fun Ice-topped Martini Bar. There are a couple of options for drinks packages onboard with the most popular being the classic drinks package or the premium drinks package.
