Four Grecotels, four types of traveller

My Corfu adventure and why Greek hospitality stands out

Ben Grimes on 12 Oct 2026

“Wow, wow, wow.” I lost count of how many times I said those words in Corfu. Along with a lovely group of fellow Travel Counsellors, I was invited on a FAM trip hosted by Grecotel, where we visited four of their hotels on the island. I stayed at two of them, Costa Botanica and Corfu Imperial, and had in‑depth site visits at Daphnilia Bay and Eva Palace.

When I started my Travel Counsellors journey, I never imagined I’d fall for a hotel brand quite as much as I have with Grecotel. Yet the more of their properties I see, the more I genuinely believe in what they offer, and in the warm Greek hospitality that comes with every stay.

On this trip, that feeling was impossible to miss. Four very different hotels, four distinct personalities, but everywhere we went the welcome felt the same: kind, genuine, and quietly proud. Grecotel is family owned, and you can really feel it.

What it means for my clients is simple: because I’ve walked these resorts, slept in the beds, eaten the food and chatted with the teams, I now know which Grecotel in Corfu is “the one” for different types of travellers. The right hotel for one person is rarely the right hotel for the next, and this trip really underlined that.

Why Grecotel in Corfu for luxury summer 2027

Corfu has long been a favourite for UK travellers, but when you pair this lush, green Greek island with Grecotel’s style of hospitality, it becomes an incredibly appealing option for a luxury summer 2027 escape.

Grecotel is a family‑owned collection, which already sets the tone. There is a consistency in the way you are looked after: warm smiles at reception, genuine “welcome back” moments even after a short stay, and a feeling that nothing is too much trouble. It is not flashy or over the top, just quietly attentive and very human.

Corfu itself gives Grecotel a stunning canvas to work with. Think pine‑clad hills dropping into clear blue water, pretty bays, and dreamy views out across the Ionian Sea. It is easy to reach from the UK, yet still feels wonderfully “away from it all” once you are gazing out from a peninsula or winding your way down to a tucked‑away beach.

What really struck me on this trip is how well Grecotel in Corfu caters for different luxury travellers:

• Couples looking for somewhere romantic and laid back.

• Families wanting space, pools and the ease of all inclusive.

• Friends planning a special week away together.

• Those once‑in‑a‑while trips that need to feel properly special.

Across Costa Botanica, Daphnilia Bay, Eva Palace and Corfu Imperial, there is a perfect match for each of those. My job is to help you find the one that fits you.

Four Grecotels, four “right clients”

Costa Botanica: water‑loving families and easy all inclusive

Got little ones who would happily spend all day in the water? Costa Botanica is a bit of a playground for them.

I stayed here, and the first thing that jumped out was the sense of space. This is a beachfront resort with room to breathe, which is such a luxury in itself. The aqua park quickly becomes the star of the show for families, but there are also quieter corners to retreat to when you (or the kids) need a breather.

The all-inclusive offering here is pretty decent too. For many of my clients, especially families travelling in peak school holidays, that peace of mind around spend makes a huge difference. You are not counting every ice cream or soft drink, and it all feels very relaxed.

Who I would send here:

• Families with younger children or tweens who want water fun on tap.

• Parents who like the idea of a “base camp” resort with everything on hand.

• Those who value space, beachfront access and the simplicity of all inclusive, without compromising on that warm Greek welcome.

If you are picturing sun‑cream‑smudged smiles, wet hair, aqua park adventures and sandy toes, Costa Botanica is very likely your Grecotel.

Daphnilia Bay: a quieter bay with loads of charm

If Costa Botanica is the energetic, aqua‑park‑loving sibling, Daphnilia Bay is the slightly calmer, quietly charming one.

On my site visit, my first thought was: “Family break, just a lil bit calmer?” It sits in a lovely, quiet bay with bags of character. You have that classic Greek combination of sea, greenery and light, but with a softer, more tranquil feel than some busier stretches of coastline.

There is one honest note that matters: the resort is on a hillside. For many guests that is part of the charm, with views opening up as you move around. But if walking is tricky, or if steep slopes and steps are a concern, then this is something we would talk about properly before booking.

Who I would send here:

• Families or couples who like a more relaxed, traditional‑feeling setting.

• Those who enjoy scenic walks and do not mind a hillside layout.

• Guests who want a quieter bay and more of a “Greek charm” feel, rather than a big, high‑energy resort

If you are imagining evenings with a gentle sea breeze, pretty bay views and a more mellow pace, Daphnilia Bay could be a lovely fit.

Eva Palace: gorgeous pools and laid‑back luxury for couples & friends

“Couples, or a week away with friends…?” That was exactly what ran through my mind at Eva Palace.

The vibe here is really laid back. The first thing that grabs your attention is how pretty the pools and grounds are: elegant, grown‑up and very inviting. It is easy to picture slow mornings by the water, good books on sun loungers and long, chatty lunches.

Eva Palace does that clever thing of feeling special without ever trying too hard. You still have the friendliness and approachability that runs through Grecotel, but wrapped in a softer, more romantic atmosphere.

Who I would send here:

• Couples looking for a relaxed, romantic getaway in Corfu.

• Friends planning a chilled week away together with plenty of pool time.

• Guests who appreciate beautiful grounds, a slower pace and a more intimate feel.

If you want Corfu with gorgeous surroundings, long lazy days and grown‑up calm rather than constant buzz, Eva Palace is one I would happily recommend.

Corfu Imperial: “this is it” for those extra‑special trips

And then there is Corfu Imperial.

“And if it’s a trip that really needs to feel special… this is it.” I said that in my reel, and I still completely stand by it. This hotel has a real wow factor.

Set right at the tip of the Kommeno Peninsula, you are surrounded by water and beauty almost everywhere you look. There is a true sense of arrival here: the views, the architecture, the way the outdoor spaces open up. It all adds up to that quiet intake of breath that says: “Oh… this is something a bit special.”

I stayed here and completely fell for it. The food was a stand‑out highlight, both in terms of quality and variety. It is the kind of place where dinners feel like an occasion in themselves rather than simply “fuel for the day”.

Who I would send here:

• Couples marking a milestone birthday, anniversary or honeymoon.

• Families who want a luxurious setting and those memorable holiday “wow” moments.

• Anyone who wants their Corfu stay to feel truly elevated, from the setting to the dining.

If you are thinking about a once‑in‑a‑while trip that deserves something extraordinary, Corfu Imperial is very likely the one I will be talking to you about. It is beautiful everywhere you look, and it really does linger in your mind long after you have left.

The golden thread: warm Greek hospitality you can really feel

Although these four Grecotels are very different in style, one golden thread ran through every single one: warm Greek hospitality.

That might sound like a marketing line, but when you are actually there, you realise how real it is. Little moments stand out: the way staff remember you and ask how your day has been, the genuine smiles, the patience with excited children, the unforced “good mornings” that make you feel more like a welcomed guest than a room number.

Because Grecotel is family owned, there is a sense of pride and care that filters all the way through. It is there at Costa Botanica when families tumble back from the aqua park, at Daphnilia Bay when you wander down to the quiet bay, at Eva Palace by those gorgeous pools, and very much at Corfu Imperial with its show‑stopping setting.

Wherever we went, the welcome felt genuinely warm. It did not matter that these were all different styles of hotel; that underlying Greek hospitality was the constant, and it is a big part of why I am so comfortable recommending Grecotel to my clients.

Why it matters that I have seen them for myself

One of the things I repeat a lot is that the right hotel for one person is rarely the right one for the next. On paper, several of these Grecotels might all “tick the boxes”. In reality, the feeling on the ground is different at each, and that feeling is what makes or breaks a luxury holiday.

Seeing Costa Botanica, Daphnilia Bay, Eva Palace and Corfu Imperial for myself means I am no longer relying on glossy images or generic descriptions. I know which resort feels buzzy and which feels serene. I know where the hillside might be a consideration, which pools feel most relaxed, how the all-inclusive works in real life, and which property has that extra layer of “wow” for a special occasion.

For my clients, especially those planning luxury trips, this matters. You are investing time, money and emotion into your holiday. You deserve recommendations that are rooted in first‑hand experience, not guesswork.

When we talk about your plans for Corfu, I will not just be asking about dates and budgets. I will be asking how you like to spend your days, what sort of atmosphere you are drawn to, and what would make you look around on your first evening and think, “Yes, this is exactly what I hoped for.” Then I can match you to the Grecotel that fits.
