Sydney has such an energy about it.

One of my favourite ways to arrive into the city is by ferry. Instead of heading straight towards the Opera House, start around Darling Harbour and take the ferry underneath the Harbour Bridge before seeing the skyline open up in front of you. It’s such a memorable first impression of Sydney.

Darling Harbour is also fantastic in the evenings with restaurants, bars and a really lively atmosphere along the waterfront. If you’re there on a Saturday, you may even catch the harbour fireworks.

Sydney is also ideal for couples looking for experiences beyond sightseeing. Whale watching season is incredible and seeing whales surface just outside Sydney Harbour was unforgettable.

For something slower paced, the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk combines ocean views, beaches and cafés all along the coastline.

Brisbane – Relaxed City Vibes with Easy Access to the Gold Coast

Brisbane is often overlooked, but it works so well as part of an Australia honeymoon.

The city itself feels modern, sunny and relaxed, with rooftop bars, riverside dining and a great atmosphere without feeling overwhelming. It’s also perfectly located for visiting the Gold Coast theme parks, making it a great option for couples wanting to add some fun and excitement into their honeymoon.

The water is crystal clear, the beaches are stunning and there’s such a relaxed atmosphere across the island.

Byron Bay brings a completely different feel again.

Known for its laid-back atmosphere, boutique hotels, beaches and food scene, it’s perfect for couples wanting a slower pace for part of their honeymoon.

It’s somewhere you can spend the morning walking along the coastline, the afternoon at the beach and the evening enjoying great food and sunset drinks. The scenery around Byron Bay is beautiful and it pairs perfectly with Sydney or Brisbane.

Hamilton Island – The Luxury Island Finish

For couples wanting a luxury tropical island stay, Hamilton Island is an amazing way to finish an Australia honeymoon. Located in the Whitsundays, it’s surrounded by turquoise water, white sand beaches and incredible scenery and gives access to the great barrier reef.
