East meets west Istanbul

Istanbul is the only pan continental city in the world meaning it is situated on two continents Europe and Asia.

Istanbul is not only the capital city of Turkey, but it is the biggest city with over 13 million people living here, all served by the world’s oldest covered market the Grand Bazaar, which opened for business in 1461.

The Grand Bazaar has 16 entrances and 4,000 shops! My husband nearly has a stroke so I’m sure the lads will love it; it is gorgeous for a wander. Try the Turkish delight or Turkish tea or just take it all in.

Istanbul is both busy and crowded but somehow, it’s not hectic. The city is busy with loads going on, but it’s calm at the same time.

There’s so much history and sights to fill your day, Mosques galore. The Blue Mosque was closed for renovations so instead we visited the oldest mosque the #Ayasofya which is pretty amazing inside. The Galata tower, Obelisks, boat trips on the Bosphorus river some including dinner and the rooftop restaurants are a must. The views of the city are incredible, and the food is fabulous. I’d recommend doing more than one.

Istanbul is a real cultural city where you will find the shopping of the east and the culture of the west. It’s a destination that’s a real joy.

We flew direct to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. I enjoyed the luxury of an international carrier when you spend summers on low-cost airlines.

Turkish Airlines offer: *Boarding by seat number, calm & stress free. *Individual TVs. *USB phone charger in each seat. *Ability to connect your Bluetooth headphones to the TV. & Dinner is included. It’s the little things!
