Duinrell Holland

This year we decided to take a long weekend to a campsite in Holland. Because of its excellent value, I sell a lot of this particular site so I decided it was about time I tried it for myself.

It’s a very unique campsite with its own theme park and water park on site, again -great value for money. It is set near the quaint village of Wassenaar, only a 5 minute stroll away. Wassenaar has a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants to choose from, and you must visit “Luciano” for some after dinner ice cream, it’s amazing! One of the best things about Duinrell is that you have free entry to the theme park. It has over 40 different rides, suitable for all different ages. The park can get busy during the day but surprisingly we didn’t find the queues that long. It’s very easy to walk around with plenty of food courts spread throughout. You enter through the right of the main plaza, greeted by a large Ferris wheel with 2 large playgrounds either side. On the left side of the canal you have tobogganing, Archery, Zip Line, Mini Golf, etc. Our favourite was trying to stay dry in the Rollercoaster Splash and also the bumper boats.

If you still have some energy after all that you can then go to the water park, which is open until 10pm. Large outdoor pool area, indoor pool with lots of slides, wave pool, lazy river which was our favourite, Hot tub, and the Pelican Dive. There is also a food court and an outdoor veranda. The changing facilities were excellent and the waterpark was very well supervised, plenty of life guards on duty. (Children under 1.20m must wear a floatation device)

The Plaza is the lively centre of the holiday park. You have everything under one roof here, take –away, restaurant, Supermarket (although well stocked the one in Wassenaar called Jumbo was much better value if you are doing a big shop) You also have the Pub where you can play bowling while you have a relaxing drink or you can kick back and relax in the lighthouse lounge.

The Dutch love their bikes and have excellent bike lanes, so why not hire some bikes and cycle to the beach, only 4km away, or explore Duinrell’s own lovely woodland and dune area. If you fancy some shopping or sightseeing, there are plenty of great cities in the area such as Leiden (10km), The Hague(13km), Delft(20km) and Amsterdam(55km)

Duinrell offers an exciting, fun-tastic holiday, so whatever the weather there is always something to do. If you would like any more details on this park please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
