Memories made in Marrakesh

Turning 40 in style, well not me just yet, but my friend certainly planned to be when I was tasked with organising a fabulous birthday get together abroad. Post pandemic and having missed several years of celebrations it was the perfect reason to get a group of his nearest and dearest together to celebrate. A lot of special considerations went in to picking this villa, but ultimately this one won with its stunning design, gorgeous grounds including a large pool and pool house, as well as full chef and concierge service catering for up to 14 people in an exclusive villa just outside of Marrakesh.

Greeted at the airport by our courtesy pick up we were transported to the villa, less than 25 minutes from the airport. The villa was located in a private area but only 15km from the restaurants and boutiques of Marrakesh. Once you have stepped inside the villa, with its classic contemporary Moroccan décor, you completely forget about the outside world. Each room has impressive high ceilings, fabulous large fireplaces, soft seating areas and multiple large terraces. There is also a croquet court, yoga room, gym, hammam and tennis court, even with a full week here I doubt you would get to explore the house and grounds fully. Each of the five bedrooms within the main house are equally gorgeous, there will be no fighting about who gets which room here! For larger parties there is also a guest house with two further bedrooms in.

We were truly spoilt during our stay here with the in-villa chef that provided delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner should you want it. They are very flexible with the menu and dishes they could provide and I can't wait to go back at some stage to sample more. This beautiful villa really is a true Oasis within Marrakesh.

For those wanting to visit Marrakesh itself, there is a great buzz around the city. The many souks and markets provide hours of entertainment wandering around the Medina. It can be quite overwhelming but for the most part people are friendly and once you have had enough of the markets there are some fantastic restaurants and roof-top bars to explore. Taking in a desert quad bike was a group favourite and I personally loved a day trip out to the Ourika Valley in the Moroccan High Atlas-mountains. It is a very natural and traditional area populated by Berber people and as well as being a stunning location offering slightly cooler temperatures to that of the city (it snows in this area in the winter).

There are no words or pictures that can truly convey how spectacular the stay in this villa was, from the villa itself to the outstanding service from the staff that made our time completely unforgettable.
