Toronto

This was my first visit to Toronto and we stayed for 2 nights at the Fairmont Royal York hotel.

The hotel is quite old yet modern inside and is a 5* hotel, very central right by the main train station. The airport express bus also runs within 50 yards of the hotel so it's an excellent spot. It is a huge and our room was very modern and quite spacious. I really could not fault the Fairmont Royal York and I would definitely stay again.

There are many attractions to see in the city. I recommend the hop on hop off tour bus which is a live tour and runs right next to the hoteland by using this you will go to all the main sights and learn about the history of the city. Included in the hop on tour bus is a 45 min boat trip which goes around Toronto Island. So it's an excursion well worth experiencing.

The Toronto tower is also worth a visit and is the tallest building in the city. Right at the top they have a viewing platform and a 360 degree revolving restaurant. I really recommend this and pre-booking is essential. They also have a glass floor which you can walk over if you can stomach it!

The shopping is fantastic and they have a main shopping mall with loads of bargains much cheaper than here. Alternatively there is a shopping outlet which you can go to and they have buses that run from the city taking 45 minutes.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants close to the hotel and being so central you can walk anywhere within the city centre within half an hour. Another top attraction would be Niagara Falls which I've written about in a seperate blog. Distance is around 150KM and takes under 2 hours and I think it is a trip you just cannot miss.
