13 days | Shanghai – Yangtze – Chongqing – Chengdu – Xian – Beijing

Shanghai

(Days 1-2)

Your journey begins in Shanghai, a city where tradition and innovation go hand in hand. Wander through the peaceful Yu Garden, a masterpiece of classical Chinese landscaping, before stepping onto the Bund, lined with grand colonial architecture. Across the river, the bold skyline of Pudong rises in contrast—home to some of the world’s most striking skyscrapers. Round off your stay with a scenic Huangpu River Cruise, offering a perfect vantage point to take in both sides of this captivating city.

Yangtze River Cruise

(Days 3-6)

Fly to Yichang and step aboard your ship for a 4-night Yangtze River Cruise. Take in breathtaking views as you sail through dramatic gorges and past rural riverside scenes. Enjoy shore excursions, visit the Three Gorges Dam, and relax on board as you watch the scenery unfold.

Chongqing

(Day 7)

Disembark your cruise in Chongqing, one of China’s largest cities and the gateway to the west. Discover the charm of Ciqikou Old Town, where narrow alleyways, traditional teahouses, and local handicrafts offer a glimpse into the city’s rich past. The contrast between ancient traditions and fast-paced modern life is especially vivid here, making it a fascinating stop on your journey.

Chengdu

(Day 8)

Travel to Chengdu, the laid-back capital of Sichuan Province, known for its spicy cuisine and famously relaxed pace. A visit to the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base is a standout experience—watch these gentle giants munching on bamboo and playing in their leafy enclosures. You’ll also have time to enjoy the city’s tranquil parks and perhaps sip tea like the locals do, in one of Chengdu’s many traditional teahouses.

Xian

(Days 9-10)

Next, continue to Xian, once the starting point of the Silk Road and home to some of China’s most treasured archaeological sites. Marvel at the life-sized Terracotta Warriors, unearthed in stunning detail, then stroll or cycle atop the ancient city wall for views across the old town. The serene Little Wild Goose Pagoda offers a quieter, more reflective glimpse into Tang Dynasty culture.

Beijing

(Days 11-13)

Your final stop is Beijing, where centuries of history come to life. Explore the vast courtyards of the Forbidden City, admire the symmetry of the Temple of Heaven, and wander the gardens of the Summer Palace. No visit to China is complete without standing atop the Great Wall, and your farewell evening is celebrated in style with an authentic Peking duck dinner, a fitting end to this unforgettable journey.
