January Ski: Zell am See

Arrival

Fly from Dublin to Salzburg and transfer by coach to Zell am See, a classic alpine town set beside a glacier-fed lake. The journey brings you through valleys and mountain villages, giving you a clear view of the landscape where you will be skiing for the week.

Grand Hotel Zell am See

Your base is the Grand Hotel Zell am See, positioned right on the lake with views across the water and up toward the surrounding peaks. You stay in a Comfort Double Room with mountain views and half board meals included. Breakfasts and dinners in the hotel give you an easy routine each day before and after skiing.

Skiing the Schmittenhöhe Area

Zell am See offers varied skiing for all levels, with well marked pistes, wide blue runs for gentle progression and longer red routes for more confident skiers. The lifts connect you to the Schmittenhöhe area, while nearby Kaprun provides access to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier for high-altitude snow throughout the season. Ski passes, equipment hire and lessons can be added before travel.

More to see

Zell am See has more to offer than the slopes alone. The old town has pedestrian streets with cafés, bakeries and traditional Austrian restaurants, ideal for afternoon breaks or après-ski. The lakeside promenade is perfect for short walks, and the town’s ice rink offers public skating sessions for a change of pace. For panoramic views, the Schmittenhöhe cable car runs for non skiers too, giving access to mountain cafés and lookouts without needing to ski.
