My Journey with Explora Journeys
With a guest capacity of just 922, Explora I offers an exclusive experience without the crowd, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a private yacht than a traditional cruise ship. The ship's size is just perfect for offering large enough space to enjoy privacy but small enough to access the hidden gems of lesser-visited ports.
Setting sail from Venice onboard Explora I felt like stepping into a new era of ocean travel — one defined by space, serenity, and slow luxury. With Explora Journeys, the voyage itself becomes the destination. We were immediately struck by the ship’s sense of openness and calm.
Onboard a, a world of understated sophistication awaited. The suites — all oceanfront with private terraces — were more akin to boutique hotel rooms than traditional cruise cabins, featuring walk-in wardrobes, spacious bathrooms, and interiors bathed in natural light. Every detail, from the curated art to the soothing earth tones, was designed to evoke calm and comfort. I personally loved the day bed on the terrace which is an usual feature on a cruise ship.
The ship’s outdoor spaces were just as impressive. Multiple pool areas — including an indoor-outdoor heated pool with a retractable roof and an adults-only infinity pool — offered places to relax, recharge, or take in the view with a chilled drink in hand. Space is a cornerstone of the Explora experience. Wellness was also front and centre, with a holistic spa, ocean-facing fitness areas, and daily programming focused on mindfulness and rejuvenation.
Our first stop, Split, Croatia, offered a blend of ancient ruins and Adriatic charm, the seafront promenade was perfect for a leisurely espresso. Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor, our second stop, stunned with its fjord-like beauty. We explored medieval Kotor which is truly beautiful.
Dining on Explora I was a highlight of each day. With six culinary experiences to choose from, we could sample everything from elevated Mediterranean cuisine to Pan-Asian creations. Anthology, the ship’s signature venue, featured dishes crafted by globally renowned guest chefs — every bite a revelation, can be booked for a supplement. The Emporium Marketplace was ideal for more casual dining, with live cooking stations and regional specialties that changed daily. Med Yacht Club, Sakura, Marble & Co. Grill, and Fil Rouge all offered exceptional dining experiences. Additionally, Crema Café, Gelateria & Creperie, and In-Suite Dining are also available.
Our journey ended in Athens, where modern vibrancy meets classical grandeur. An amazing city to end an amazing trip! In conclusion, Explora Journeys offers a fresh take on luxury cruising—combining sophisticated design, gourmet dining, unique experiences, and unparalleled service.
