Paris

I’ve yet to come across another place quite like it. Parisians are very proud of their city and for good reason. There’s nothing like wandering around the large Boulevards, perhaps stopping for a coffee and crepe, while admiring the beautiful buildings and soaking up the lovely atmosphere.

There are numerous parks to stroll away for hours, you will see couples, friends and families enjoying picnics and activities if the weather is good. I’ve been to Paris many times but on this occasion we stayed in The Ampere Hotel. Ideally located, it’s nice and modern and reasonably priced by Parisian standards.

Our visit coincided with the finish of Le Tour de France which was a sight to behold. We managed to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tour, the view from the top is never one I get tired of. We spent time wandering the banks of the Seine and strolled through the very quaint Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre before finishing off a great day in The Louvre. We also spent a very enjoyable day in Disneyland, it’s very easy to reach by train or your hotel will organise a day trip. We sampled delicious food and wine and felt truly Parisian, even if only for a few days.

With a host of museums and galleries, two theme parks within easy reach, the magnificent Versailles Palace close by and shops to rival the most fashionable in any European city, Paris really is a city with something for everyone. It’s also the gateway to Northern France whether you want to see the incredible Mont San Michel, visit the beautiful city of Lille or visit the D-Day Landing beaches for yourself.
