Las Vegas

This was our second trip to Las Vegas and for those people who think that it's a place to spend just a few nights I couldn't disagree more! Las Vegas really is a city that doesn't sleep with round the clock shops, bars, restaurants, entertainment and casinos you can do something different every day and never get bored.

June was a perfect time to visit with long days of guaranteed sunshine and pleasant night time temperatures; we made the most of our 8 night trip.

It's hard to describe Las Vegas to someone who hasn't been, it's like Disneyland for adults! Each hotel has its own theme and attractions like rollercoasters, a lion habitat, aquariums, pirate shows, dancing fountains, The Eiffel Tower and lots of exhibitions and shows. Most hotels have a huge selection of bars and restaurants to suit all budgets, shops, spas, gyms and large pools one which has a lazy river and wave pool and another which has a water slide that takes you through a shark tank!

On this trip we stayed in The Luxor Hotel which we really liked. The hotel is excellent value for money with one of the largest nightclubs in Las Vegas, a huge casino, a lovely spa, quite a selection of trendy bars and dining venues as well as 4 pools totalling 19,000 square foot. We had a pyramid room which was quite unique!

Having been to The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam already we took a trip to Red Rock Canyon and Zion National Park, both were stunning and well worth a visit. All of these can be pre-booked before arriving in Las Vegas.

During our stay we took full advantage of the outlet mall a few miles from the strip where we picked up excellent bargains, it is easily accessible by bus or taxi. We also visited The Fashion Show Mall, right in the middle of the strip; this is a mecca for shoppers.

Las Vegas is an ideal destination for couples and honeymooners, singles and hen and stag parties. While Las Vegas is not particularly child friendly it is possible for families to spend a few nights here as part of a longer visit to The States.

Las Vegas is also a good destination to combine with Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Diego which are all close by or as part of a cruise holiday or trip to the Caribbean. Viva Las Vegas!
