Krakow

We flew out for a two night break to Krakow with Aer Lingus. Krakow by all accounts is gorgeous. It's a city with a fascinating history and is wonderful to stroll around soaking up the atmosphere and the beautiful architecture.

We stayed in the gorgeous Andels Hotel. Perfectly situated in the centre of the city with the train station only minutes walk away and the largest shopping mall in the city on your doorstep it was ideal. During our stay we took a half day trip to the salt mines, a short drive from the city. I would highly recommend this as it is a truly fascinating place with chapels, alters, statues of the last supper and the pope as well as incredibly intricate chandeliers all carved completely out of salt!

Public transport was very easy to use and we found it great value for food and drinks as well as having excellent shopping options. Don’t miss the beautiful Wawel Cathedral and Castle and the Church of the Virgin Mary.

Other day trips include Auschwitz Concentration Camp, Zakoplane, The Tatras Mountains and Warsaw, all of which can be booked in advance of your trip. For families Krakow has a wonderful zoo and a year round indoor waterpark.

Krakow was an excellent city break and somewhere I hope to return to in the future.
