Over nine days, you’ll have plenty of time to discover the history, culture and stunning natural beauty of the tear-shaped island of Sri Lanka. Combining the very best of the country’s many highlights, from ancient cities and emerald tea landscapes, to untamed jungles and pristine coastlines, this incredible tour promises to deliver a truly unforgettable travel experience.

Arrive in Sri Lanka where your chauffeur will bring you to your first stop Sigiriya. On way to Sigiriya visit the famous Pinnawela elephant orphanage, this 25-acre coconut property has been taking care of elephants since 1975 and don’t be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely when you enter the property. These gentle giants provide the warmest of welcomes to any visitor.

Stay overnight in Sigiriya and then embark on a day trip to Polonnaruwa to tour the great ancient Sri Lankan architecture which is interwoven with many Buddhist monasteries and monuments. Visit Minneriya National Park (20 kilometres northwest of Polonnaruwa). The park is dominated by tropical mixed evergreen forest and there are 24 species of mammal found there from elephants, Sri Lanka sambhur, Sri Lanka spotted deer, Sri Lanka sloth bear, toque monkey and purple-faced leaf monkey.

Drive on to Kandy, the cultural centre of Sri Lanka and the capital of the last Singhalese kingdom.
Staying for one night, you can enjoy a visit to the famed ‘Temple of the Tooth for the traditional evening ‘Pooja’.

Leaving Kandy behind, you’ll travel on to Nuwara Eliya, best known as tea country, where the glistening green leaves and the neat rows of green, cloak ridges and valleys are sure to provide a lasting impression of this spectacular hill country. Enjoy an early morning excursion to the Peradeniya botanical garden and visit it’s best known attraction, the Orchid House which is home to more than 300 varieties of exquisite orchids.

The next stage of your superb Sri Lankan adventure sees you head to Yala, the southernmost province of the island. Take an afternoon safari by private jeep and discover wild boar, deer, leopards, elephants, bears, peacocks, flamingos and many more animals in their natural habitat – a truly breathtaking site. For your final two nights in Sri Lanka, you’ll be able to relax and unwind to your heart’s content in the beach resort of Wadduwa. Spend your time soaking up the sun and reflecting on memories of a truly awe-inspiring tour.
