I am just back from a fantastic 2 week family holiday in Salou, Costa Dorada. We stayed with Alfresco Holidays in a 3 bed Vivaldi mobile at Camping Sanguli. The campsite was very easily to get to by flying into Reus airport and then a 15 minute taxi ride.

The mobile itself was perfect for my family of 2 adults & 4 children with 3 bedrooms, kitchen/dining/living area, and bathroom & furnished decking with BBQ. As this was our first time on a camping holiday, I didn't really know what to expect! But I can safely say it was by far the best holiday we've had so far. The biggest decision of the day was which of the 3 fab pools to go to!!

Camping Sanguli has fantastic on site activities for every member of the family to enjoy. With 3 pools (each has a separate children pool) and 2 of the pools have water slides for the thrill seekers too. There are also tennis, football, basketball and volleyball courts available or if you prefer a more relaxed activity you can try the mini golf, pool tables or table tennis. A big hit with my girls were the trampolines where they could bounce off all the extra energy they had before bedtime!

The onsite entertainment team work hard at putting on a mini-disco & evening entertainment most nights. The site mascot Guli is the star of the mini-disco and all the children love posing for photos with him. The mini-club from ages 4-12 years opens for a couple of hours every morning & afternoon providing various activities for the children. They also have face-painting on various evenings throughout the week too.

We made the most of the BBQ and the well equipped kitchen and cooked our own meals most nights. The onsite supermarket has all the daily essentials you will need but if you go a little further there is a local Lidl where you can really stock up on fresh produce for your stay. I loved the benefit of being able to cook ourselves when we wanted to eat so we were never timed to any set meal times or restaurants. There are also restaurants and snack bars onsite which provide a good range of meals at reasonable prices and the snack bars sell drinks & snacks throughout the day.

The beach is just across the road from Sanguli and there are plenty of sun loungers & parasols for hire if you wish. We're more pool people but we did spend a day on the beach during our stay. We also most days walked along the promenade into Salou town which takes about 45 minutes strolling to reach the Place de Europa where you will find lots of restaurants, shops & bars typical of a Spanish resort town.

There is also buses which runs from outside Sanguli into Salou or go further afield to Tarragona. In the other direction you can get to Cambrils which is a beautiful town based around the marina area with a good selection of seafood restaurants and upmarket shops.

A trip to PortAventura Theme Park is a great option for a family day out. We took a 2 day pass which was great value. There are lots of rides throughout the park ranging from low to high thrills - the Shambala is a must for any rollercoaster fans! I would suggest the Express tickets so you can save on the waiting time for the most popular rides. My favourite ride was the Silver River where you are guaranteed to get soaked but such good fun!

We also took the train from Salou to Barcelona for a day trip. The train was really good value and brought us to Barcelona centre in 90 minutes. The main shopping street has lots of upmarket and designer shops as well as high street brands like Mango and Zara. But the real beauty of Barcelona is strolling along the streets of Las Ramblas area where there are lots of little side streets off it with quirky shops & cafes. The Cathedral of Barcelona is worth a visit too and is just off Las Ramblas. Then stroll along to the beautiful marina where you can sit and watch the boats go by, enjoy some tapas at any of the street-side bistros or indulge in some more retail therapy at the Maremagnum Mall. I'll definitely be going back to Barcelona for a weekend break as there is just so much more to experience.

I would highly recommend Camping Sanguli to any family who wants a laidback, chilled out holiday on a site with great outdoor facilities to keep everyone happy. Get in touch with me to find out more details on this great holiday.

I look forward to hearing from you!
