Your invitation to escape to Marriott's luxury resorts in Mauritius

23 July 2020

Marriott International Hotels are renowned the world over for delivering luxurious accommodation, friendly service and sumptuous dining, all within some of the earth’s most picturesque settings. Now that the world is opening up again, we’re going to take a look at their Mauritian properties to see how the paradise island experience will look post-lockdown.

Le Méridien Ile Maurice

Le Méridien Ile Maurice sits in the sheltered bay of Pointe-aux-Piments on Mauritius’ northwest coast, just minutes away from an array of attractions including the restaurants and bars of Grand Baie, and the Central Market.

Perfect for families, small groups or even solo travellers, the comfortable rooms and suites are well-sized and elegantly appointed. For adults looking for an atmosphere of sophistication, the adults-only Nirvana section of the resort comes with personal terraces and unique amenities as well as a private infinity pool, bar and restaurant. As with all Marriott International Hotels, Le Méridien Ile Maurice will be implementing new cleaning protocols such as deep cleaning of each guest room between stays and limiting in-stay housekeeping frequency to reduce contact during each stay.

The flavours of Mauritius await across the property’s four restaurants, serving up unique dining experiences to savour. Choose from a fusion of contemporary and traditional Mauritian cuisine at La Faya, along the quiet Nirvana section of the hotel; aromatic Indian cuisine at Cumin, casual and diverse culinary delights at Ti Marmite, where the flavours of Mauritius and beyond are on show; and exotic local and international fare with unobscured panoramic views at 180 Degrees. Across each of the restaurants, returning guests may notice a more spacious feel to the dining venues with reduced venue capacities and increased distance between furniture, alongside the requirement for reservations at peak times.

“we are providing a holistic approach designed to take care of our guests and associates.”

The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa

At the Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, Mauritius, guests can unwind within delightfully comfortable surroundings as they appreciate the tranquil energy that fills the resort. We recommend downloading the Marriott Bonvoy™ app before your trip to take advantage of all the contactless services available, ensuring you can relax in blissful peace.

Feeling refreshed is a guarantee with a stay at Turtle Bay thanks to the Heavenly® Bed and Heavenly® Baths featured in every room and suite. So, whether you’re staying in the cosy Ocean Grand Deluxe Guest room with its air conditioning, flat-screen television, in-room safe and minibar; or at the unparalleled blend of comfort and class that is the Ocean Suite; you’ll enjoy a restful stay within tastefully opulent surroundings. Each of the 190 elegant rooms and suites features a private balcony or terrace, allowing guests to step out and admire magnificent views of the protected marine park.

The resort serves up unique dining experiences across its five sophisticated restaurants, where expert chefs blend the finest exotic produce with fresh, healthy ingredients to create a rich variety of sumptuous culinary creations. Taste contemporary Indian food, enjoy relaxed beachside theme night dining, savour interactive culinary experiences, sample delectable tapas and sushi to the sound of lapping waves, or dine with views out across the protected marine park – a culinary adventure awaits. Guests can now also take advantage of the ’grab and go’ contactless dining options which have been introduced across all Marriott International Hotels.

“We want our guests to know that we are doing everything we can to welcome them back to a safe and clean hotel environment when they start traveling again.”

The St. Regis Mauritius Resort

Surrounded by the shimmering turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, this former sugar plantation house offers a stunning beachfront getaway for lovers of classic colonial charm, against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Le Morne Brabant Mountain.

The resort is surrounded by a myriad of activities, inviting adventurous guests to do more than simply lay on the pristine white sands. The nearby Black River Gorges National Park is home to a dense tropical forest where a number of endemic reptiles can be found amongst the vibrant flora, and a network of walking trails makes it all discoverable on foot. Aside from the captivating scenery on land, the ocean surrounding Mauritius creates a wealth of activities ranging from undersea walking and big game fishing to sailing, snorkelling, and diving. For thrill-seekers, the favourable offshore winds create perfect conditions for kite surfing at the famous ‘One Eye’ surf spot, for which guests can rent equipment from the hotel which is disinfected after every use.

Guests at the resort are invited to embark on a journey of rejuvenation at the Iridium Spa where a firm commitment to crafting a bespoke wellness escape exists within a timelessly designed spa, accented with metallic features and completed by a soothing view over the garden. To help maintain distancing within the spa, there is now further spacing between treatments.

“St Regis has a grown-up look and feel and sets the benchmark for what a 5-star property should offer. I loved the private villas here, ideal for families and groups.”
