New York is just amazing.

This was my second time in New York. My friend Kelly and I got the chance to take a quick 3 night trip with no hubbies and no kids …..Wow!

After landing at Newark airport we got the bus to Grand Central station. We were staying in the Fitzpatrick’s Grand Central Hotel (just around the corner form the bus stop). After checking in we proceeded to our room, it was huge, loads of space with 2 double beds. We didn’t delay, we dropped the bags and headed for a walk to Time Square to get our bearings. Kelly had never been to New York before so it was great to see her reaction to the glitz and lights of Time Square. After grabbing a quick bite to eat we decided on an early night.

The next day all refreshed we were ready and raring to go. We walked to Time Square to board the hop on – hop off bus. This is the best way to get around and see everything (especially if it is a quick trip). We got off at Battery Park and got in the queue to board the ferry to Liberty Island. Unfortunately we didn’t realise if you want to climb the lady herself you need to purchase the tickets in the ticket office on the mainland! From here we boarded the ferry and did a stop at Ellis Island for a tour.

When we got back to dry land we headed to Ground Zero, it was an unbelievable sight. Seeing it makes it all the more real and seeing first-hand the size of the site.

On the Saturday evening we decided to take the evening tour of Brooklyn. It was very different and very cold! When you are coming back in to Manhattan the view of the city lights is beautiful.

Sunday morning we boarded the bus heading uptown, as the traffic was so busy the bus was going nowhere fast. With the sun belting down on us we decided to get off and take a stroll around Central Park.

No trip would be complete without a trip to Macys. Whatever you do, do not forget to bring your passport with you as you will get a discount for being a tourist! The weekend flew by and we didn’t get to see and do everything, so it will give us an excuse to go back again!!!
