Celebrate the 4th of July by diving into the history of Colonial America. Begin your self-guided tour in the National’s Capital before diving into the history Jamestown and taking in the historic Gettysburg Battlefield. See some of the most beautiful caves in the world at Luray Caverns before relaxing along 30 miles of Sandy beaches in Virginia.

Start your adventure of Colonial America in Washington DC. Spend the day touring the magnificent Monuments the US Capital has to offer along the National Mal before losing yourself in some of the world’s most inspiring museums.

Later, why not rent a bicycle and roam through the bustling city, taking in all Washington DC has to offer. In the evening take a short drive to the picturesque suburb of Georgetown. This suburb is home to some amazing restaurants.

Leave the seat of government behind and dive into American History by travelling to the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg. There by following self-guided interpretative trails you can understand this formative period in U.S. history. After immersing yourself in the rich colonial history your adventure will take you to one of the most beautiful caves in the world, Luray Caverns. Following this make sure to enter Shenandoah National Park which is a haven for plants, wildlife, and people alike.

Prepare to be transported back in time in Williamsburg where the clocks have turned back 200 years. Continue through Norfolk to Virginia Beach, with 30 miles of sandy seashore where you can take time to relax and dip your toes in the ocean.

Drive north across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to the tranquil Eastern Shore. Cross into Maryland and continue to Annapolis, home to the U.S. Naval Academy. See the State House and visit the Academy before continuing to Baltimore. Then enjoy an evening stroll along the magnificently rebuilt Inner Harbour.

Your tour of Colonial America then takes you to the City of Brotherly Love - Philadelphia. This historic city is home to both Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Philadelphia also boasts a world class art museum as well as superb shopping and dining.
Explore Philadelphia a little further this morning before driving to Washington, D.C. in the afternoon. If you did not see the monuments of DC by night at the start of your trip, then tonight is your opportunity to do so.
