Fabulous Fuerteventura

I travelled with my husband and children to Fuerteventura as we wanted a winter destination with guaranteed sunshine; we were not disappointed. We found the island to be ideal for a relaxing and had a restful family holiday.

The flight was approx. four hours from Dublin. When we arrived we travelled forty five minutes to Corralejo and we were delighted to find that it was like an old traditional Spanish fishing village. The beaches were golden and beautiful and are a paradise for surfing and kite surfing.

We stayed in the Las Marismas Apartments, a three star complex, located 400m from Corralejo centre and 800m to the sandy beach. We had a really good two bedroomed apartments and they offer self-catering with buffet half board or all inclusive options. All the accommodation in Fuerteventura is low rise. The Marismas Apartments were also great for kids and has a kids club.

There seemed to be plenty of nightlife in Coralejo, but quieter than the other Canary Islands, so probably more suited to families or those looking for a chill out holiday.

We went to visit Caleta de Fustes, a very popular tourist town and only a fifteen minute transfer from the airport. It was a busy resort when we were there, with a lovely beach and a lot of restaurants and bars with entertainment. The downside was that we could hear the airplanes departing and landing when on the beach!

We had a very relaxing and sun filled holiday while in Fuerteventura and would not hesitate in recommending this as a great holiday destination.
