For anyone who has ever dreamt of experiencing the raw natural wilderness of Borneo first-hand, this is the ultimate journey. Wander through primordial rainforests which have existed in their current state for more than 130 million years. Cruise on a riverboat through remote stretches of virgin rainforest in search of wildlife and head out under cover of darkness to experience the jungle’s mysterious night shift.

This action-packed wildlife experience begins at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre so you can observe the morning feeding session before visiting the Sun Bear Conservation Centre nearby. This centre aims to increase awareness of this endearing, but little-known bear species – named after the crescent shaped patch of fur on their chests that resembles the rising sun.

Cruise through the remote stretches of lush rainforest on the Kinabatangan River passing by local villages. Relax while floating about and use this time as an excellent wildlife-spotting opportunity to look at some of Borneo’s quirky inhabitants. Further along on your journey you will encounter one of Borneo’s most iconic inhabitants -the proboscis monkeys which is endemic to the island. After arriving at your accommodation relax and freshen up before embarking on an unforgettable night river safari to see some of the jungle’s nocturnal inhabitants.

Next stop is Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Check into a charming wooden cottage in the reserve before you start to explore. Enjoy a short trek through the jungle to Tabin’s mineral rich mud volcano. When night falls take time to look up at the clear, dark sky and identify the constellations above you.

Your final destination on this wildlife adventure is Danum Valley, one of the world’s most complex ecosystems. On arrival at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge meet the in-house nature guide and explore the humming juggle around you. Walk along the trails and the 130-metre-tall, 300-metre-long canopy walk, high up in the 130-million-year-old rainforest which is literally humming with jungle sounds. The perfect way to finish up the ultimate wildlife experience.
