Our sensational trip to South Africa started with 5 nights at the Holiday Inn Waterfront in Capetown. The scenery in Capetown is spectacular. The cost of living is so reasonable there which makes eating out, shopping, carhire and excursions an easy treat for all budgets.

We took a trip to Table Mountain, Robbin Island, The Winelands and a city tour to mention just a few.
After out 5 nights in Capetown, we collected our car rental and drove the scenic through the Garden Route spending 3 nights on route and finishing up at Port Elizabeth. The beach here was beautiful but we only a 1 night stopover.

The next stage of our trip involved an internal flight from Port Elizabeth - Jo'burg - Hoedsprit. Arriving at Hoedsprit airport was as if we had gone back in time! A tractor and trailer drove to the runway to collect our luggage! We were met by our representative from Gomo Gomo Game Lodge who took us to their game reserve where we stayed at one of their amazing tents on stilts for 2 nights. The comfort of our tent was superb, ensuite, balcony overlooking the river where the wild elephant came to drink and wash each day and the staff lit incense by our bed each night. The game drives had us at the edge of our seats! The wildlife was excellent, we had the privilege of finding elephants, lions, cheetah, rhino, buffalo and many more. Watching the animals in their natural habitat was one of the highlights of our trip, female lions hunting to feed their young for survival - amazing.

The scenery around the game reserve at sunset was mind blowing, our guide arranged a champagne sunset drive for us which we just did not want to leave after but like all good things, our 2 night safari had to come to an end. Next stop - Sun City!

A mini Las Vegas in South Africa. We spent 2 nights here to experience this great stopover. Golf is also available in Sun City so something for everyone. The hotels range from 3* - 5* and are reasonably priced. A 2 night stopover was plenty time to allow us time to relax before our flight home. This is a stop I would recommend only if you have extra time.
