Cyprus - chilled out, cultural & charming.

We travelled from Dublin direct to Larnaca, Cyprus on October 3rd. The flight was approx 5 hours and the transfer on arrival was 40 minutes to our fabulous hotel, Le Meridien Limassol Resort & Spa. We spent 7 nights in a Spa Wing room which was wonderful. This is the adult only wing of the hotel which was ideal for us. The rooms are excellent, very spacious and looking over the sea and pools of the hotel. Staff at Le Meridien were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. When we choose our sunbeds in the morning, a staff member came to us with 2 towels each, made up our sunbeds, set up sun umbrellas wherever we needed them and brought us a table to put our belongings on - absolutely spoilt! I would highly recommend this hotel for couples on honeymoon or even weddings abroad!
After a couple of days, we decided to hire a car, which the concierge at the hotel arranged for us within minutes. The car was delivered to and collected from the hotel which made everything so easy! As well as driving on the same side of the road as we do in Ireland!
We travelled to Ayia Napa, Paphos, visited the amazing Archaeological site of Kourion and also viewed Aphrodite’s birth place.
Ayia Napa was surprisingly relaxed, but I guess the time of year reflected this. The resort had excellent shopping and restaurants and in high season would be paradise for those looking for a lively holiday with an array of bars and nightclubs. I was, I have to admit, impressed by it!
Paphos was less than 1 hours drive from our hotel in Limassol, we stopped at Kourion and Aphrodite’s birth place along the way. Amazing scenery along the coast, we highly recommend this even if you only hire a car for 1 day, it's so worth it. Paphos itself was beautiful, by the sea and everything seemed to be 'on the flat' so no hill climbing! It was relaxed yet plenty of restaurants, shopping & bars. Not at all as busy at Ayia Napa but ideal for couples and families.
Kourion archaeological site was amazing and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus and dates back to 330A.D.
And as usual, our holiday to Cyprus had come to an end too early and it was time to return home!
