Dubai 5* Visit

I was very lucky to be invited on a fabulous trip to Dubai in Business Class with Emirates Airlines. The only way I can explain this is:- When you are on a long haul flight in economy you cannot wait for the flight to be over but when you are Business Class with Emirates you don’t want the flight to end!

We stayed the first 2 nights at the newly opened 5* Sofitel the Palm on Palm Island, a beautiful hotel. It is on the beach and has a very relaxed sort of “back to nature” feel about it with beautiful earthy colours and a real sense of Indonesia about it. There was a fantastic selection of food at the Buffet Breakfast and dinner was excellent too.

We visited the Atlantis the Palm Hotel for lunch and it is just a most amazing hotel. It is on Palm Island and is really suitable for families as there is so much to do from visiting the Aquarium which is part of the hotel, to shopping, to the Atlantis Aqua Adventure Park on its own beach. Access to The Park and Aquarium is free to guests of the hotel. Needless to say we all became children for the day trying out the various water rides etc.

We visited many hotels in Dubai to experience what is available and had the pleasure too of stopping in the Dubai Mall. We experienced “KidZania” which is a miniature city for children where they are in charge. We went to Sega Republic with various rides, visited the Underwater Zoo, Dubai Aquarium and Dubai Ice Rink. This is all under one roof in the Mall. Of course we also managed some shopping and despite what people think there are some very reasonably priced shops here along with the designer brands!

One of the highlights of the trip for me was Afternoon Tea with Champagne in At.Mosphere situated on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa Tower which is the tallest building in the world. What an experience and definitely a must on any trip to Dubai.

Another highlight was to the Desert for a 4 wheel drive Desert Safari and a BBQ. This was a great evening out in the Sand Dunes with our driver treating us to some pretty hair-raising driving. After all that excitement we went to the Bedouin Camp for an excellent BBQ and if you we wished to avail of it, some Sand Boarding.
