Your wedding day will be something you will remember for many years to come. The question is always how to make it truly memorable. For many couples, the answer is having their wedding abroad. With traditional weddings becomingly increasingly expensive, it’s an option that makes good sense in so many ways. You can hold your ceremony on a beach, in a chapel overlooking the sea, poolside, in a tropical garden –- anywhere you can imagine.

If you book a package holiday, you may also have the advantage of using the services of the resort’s wedding planner. She can make all the arrangements in advance of your big day, and there may be no fee involved. Some resorts offer complimentary wedding packages to their guests. And if you stay at an all-inclusive property, your cocktails and drinks are already included in the package price. You may also be able to enjoy special perks offered as well, ranging from welcome gifts in your suite, room upgrades and more.

Beyond the practical reasons for a wedding abroad, there are emotional ones too. You want to make this day unforgettable. You want to make it stand out from every other wedding you’ve attended for friends and family. Going somewhere special and inviting your loved ones along makes your wedding unique. And the choices of destination are great. Think about the south coast of Spain and the celebration you can have with the Mediterranean Sea in the background. Imagine a country villa, nestled among the vineyards of Tuscany in France. Or hold your ceremony at dawn as the sun appears over the mountains on a quiet island in Thailand.

Laganas is a very vibrant resort with plenty of bars for the young at heart. There is also a good long beach at the end of the strip. For families it's a good idea to stay in accommodation away from the centre. We did enjoy our stay though and found plenty of things to do. We took a submarine trip which is good fun and there were family activities such as karting & mini golf. Having hired the car we managed to drive around most of the Island. Zakynthos Town is really nice. There is a lovely square with nice little cafes to sit and watch the world go by. The Town Hall (were I can arrange weddings from) is just at the top of the Square and off that there are side streets full of shops. There are bicycles and battery powered cars etc for children to hire while you sit and relax. You can also take... view full story
